I am stopping breastfeeding it’s just been too much for me mentally and physically. Please give some advice for switching from breast to formula. Thank you

I'm sorry I don't have any specific advice but I had a really hard time accepting not being able to exclusively breastfeed (I am combo feeding due to supply) so just wanted to offer my support since you mention it's taken a mental toll. Feel free to message me if you need a 100% judge-free ear.

Same as Laura, just want to offer my support as I’m also having a tough time mentally with accepting not being able to exclusively breastfeed. I love breastfeeding my boy but despite pumping round the clock and trying absolutely everything to increase supply I only get 20mls each time I pump so it’s just too much mentally to sustain the effort for so little output.
Re: advice for switching, just bear in mind that you might need to try a couple of different formulas before you find one that suits your little one. There’s a bit of trial and error involved and the most expensive isn’t necessarily what will suit your baby best!
Feel free to message me if you want to chat or need any more support 😊

I am a dietitian and I did one of my rotations in a pediatric clinic- we recommend either mixing breast milk and formula for a few feeds per day or rotating between breast milk and formula each feed for a few days before switching!

I've not long done the same, I did a breastmilk/ formula mix and every few days increased the formula and decreased the breastmilk and I found it worked really well and he didn't get a bad tummy from the change

I say if it works don’t change it!

I agree with Hannah! If Bub is fine on that one then no need to try others

Of course!

hi please can you share how you did this how much breast milk and formula per bottle and how you made the bottles? I have been expressing some breast milk stored in the fridge and wondering if I can add it to the formula the breast milk is fridge temperature though! Thank you 😌
