Anyone else finds expressing colostrum quite tedious and stressful? ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿ™ˆ

I know the benefits of it and that it can be important for the little one BUT I literally can't be bothered ๐Ÿ˜ญ It's so tedious and there's a million other things I'd rather be doing. I know how egoistic it sounds, hence why I'm incognito ๐Ÿ˜† But it's the truth. So in case anyone else feels this way - you're not alone โœŒ๐Ÿป

Some days I just cba! Youโ€™re not alone!
Only reason I keep doing it is for nipple stimulation in the hopes of helping my body prepare for a natural labour lol.
Iโ€™m just an impatient mam!

It's quite a new thing anyway! (As well as a bit of a trend that's making it so popular ๐Ÿ™Š)

I ended up roughly every second day but really just when I felt like it. Unless there's circumstances preventing it, baby can get colostrum from you at birth rather than through a syringe regardless!

Did drag out my last syringe though and felt a little sad now that part is over for me ๐Ÿ˜Œ

I havenโ€™t done any yet. I did with my first pregnancy and never used them then forgot about them in the freezer.
I might try do some this time again but just havenโ€™t even got around to getting syringes

I tried and didnโ€™t get much
I had my baby at 39+4 and have had no issues feeding- donโ€™t be disheartened if you canโ€™t get much before!

I did a lot with my first, but this baby is chunkier, so I'm doing it once every three days if that. I know what I'm doing with pumping and expressing, so if she doesn't latch she's still going to get plenty after birth when it's way easier to get a lot more out ๐Ÿคฃ

Thanks ladies! I think I'm comparing this time too much to my first, I gathered SO MUCH colostrum with my first and then used it for feed top-ups, after vaccinations, when she was sick, etc. I just assumed that this time round it'll be as easy and fruitful but it's not, so it stresses me out and really puts me off. Like all the effort and almost zero result, it's frustrating and makes me want to give up ๐Ÿซ

Iโ€™ve tried and not had any luck so I canโ€™t be bothered now because I feel like Iโ€™m only upsetting myself that I canโ€™t do it.

that's pretty much how I'm feeling! Sending you love ๐Ÿ’—

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but sheโ€™s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i donโ€™t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Postpartum

Iโ€™m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. Iโ€™m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. Iโ€™m trying everything to get him to settle. Itโ€™s a load of overwhelming stress. Iโ€™m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Rant/WWYD

My sister (youngest, 24) has two kids, 4 & 1, and i (oldest, 30) just have my one whoโ€™s 6mo old right now, so i ask her for advice or call her to vent about things sometimes. Well im tired of her turning around and telling my other family members that Iโ€™m โ€œlosing my sh*t.โ€ Literally have not lost my sh*t nor have i ever freaked out to her about my baby, i just call her to talk and tell her what stage my baby is in or talk through how im feeling, but she chooses to tell people that im like a complete nutcase or something which worries me that my family is going to start being judgmental about me as a mother or looking at me funny like Iโ€™m some fragile ticking time bomb.

What would you do in this situation? Iโ€™m already pretty much decided that Iโ€™ll stop telling her anything about my struggles, but Iโ€™m almost at the point where i feel like it should be confronted because she, of all people, should understand what Iโ€™m going through.

Night time routine

Heya, my 3 week old daughter is currently exclusively breastfed and Iโ€™m not pumping. Can anyone recommend the best way to share the load with my partner? At the moment Iโ€™m doing all the feeds/burbs/settling and my partner is sleeping through which obviously isnโ€™t sustainable, Iโ€™m trying to work out the best way to get him involved. Any advice very much appreciated!

Rapid cool/ hot shot method

Sorry if this sound stupid but how are we doing the hot shot method?
Are we boiling the kettle and letting it cool a little before adding to hot flask? Then with the cool water do you boil the kettle and leave it to cool right down before putting into another flask?
My baby brain is fried trying to work out the easiest way!
