I am wondering the same thing! My little girl is 12 weeks today and will put herself to sleep on her play mat, nap for 30ish mins, then be wide awake. She sleeps for two 5 hour stretches each night so it seems to be fine but I still wonder why

Some baby's just aren't big nappers.
My siblings kids have all taken long naps but my daughter usually takes 1-2 "long" naps a day and the rest are short. The only exception is if she's not feeling good or if she's in a growth spurt.

Babies 0-3/4 months have very little in terms of a predictable nap schedule. Babies have different sleep needs at different times of development.
Night time sleeping will be solid before a napping schedule appears. Naps will eventually be predictable! Give it a few more months

My middle guy was like that he from like 3 days old he slept right through the night and he never napped much and now at two it's the opposite

Normal baby naps are anywhere from 20 min to 2 hours so other than you needing longer break totally understandable but it is developmentally normal! My girl naps for 45-50 min per nap and one longer nap in the middle of the day

Haha thanks ladies, trust me I will take the two 6 hour stretches that I get at night which allows me to sleep really good then her taking cat naps during the day….at least she’s a good baby where she doesn’t mind sitting in her swing or car seat for a while…😂😂 can’t have my cake and eat it too lol

30-50 minutes is a normal sleep cycle for babies this age so a lot of times they just wake up at the end of a complete sleep cycle which is super common, especially during the day. My baby is 11 weeks today and for the past 1-2 weeks has been taking very consistent 40-46 minute naps haha. I was looking it up earlier and what I was reading was saying if baby wakes up happy and ready to be awake then just get them up and continue on, but if baby is waking up upset and clearly still tired then to try to get them back to sleep because they might be wanting to sleep longer and just need help getting back to sleep/connecting sleep cycles. It said when trying to get them back to sleep you can try for about 10-15 minutes and if it’s not working then just end that nap and get them up for a wake window. I ended up trying that this mid afternoon when I knew she was tired and she woke up really tired still and it worked!
