My little girls nearly 6 months and I’m really dreading weaning. Can anyone give me tips. I’ve had her on some purees here and there and sometimes porridge on a morning. Any tips and advice would be helpful. Thank you ❤️

What kind of weaning are you referring to?

weaning with foods like baby led weaning

I started with fruit and teething crackers to work on grabbing stuff and I basically give my daughter what I eat(she still gets milk) but don’t go crazy with seasonings

I advise starting with veggies like steamed broccoli, carrots ect. Because once they get the taste for sweet stuff they tend not to like the other things as much. Theres a page on fb called “baby led weaning group” and it’s great, it shows you all the do’s and donts, how to cut them safely ect.

Solid starts is a wonderful app that helped me with my little man he eats like a champ

YouTube videos on babies gagging / choking so you can get used to it and know the difference. It’ll help you stay calmer when they are just gagging, so they can learn what to do without you panic jumping in etc unnecessarily.
Also watch videos on what to do if they choke and baby CPR - it’ll give you the knowledge and confidence if you ever need to.
They say to start on veggies, and keep trying for 3 days on each, as it takes time to get accustomed to it.
Leave gaps between allergen testing, and do the allergens earlier in the day so you can monitor reactions and places for help will be open.
I was proper nervous to start, and did a mix of BLW and purées. It does get easier.
Also, don’t expect her to actually eat much to start with, it’s all exploring at this stage 🥰

I weaned my daughter at 4 months old due to reflux, cmpa and colic (medically told too) I started off with purée for the first months then I moved her up to 6 months pouches of baby dinners as I noticed she was chewing her purée and she was fine eating this then she turned 6 months and I moved up to 7 months pouches she did so well then at 7 months I moved her up to 8-9 month old pouches with bits of food I’d eat blended but with bits in it still. Then at 8 months she was on 10 month old baby dinners plus food I’d eat chopped up into tiny pieces that was soft then at 9-10 months she had 3 nearly 4 teeth so I just made food I’d eat and cut it into small pieces then at 11 months to now at 15 months I just cut everything in half and just let her go at it but also feed her if I notice she’s just playing with it. My daughter is a massive lover of food will eat anything and everything. I hope this helps and that I’m not just rambling xx
