I need help with acceptance and knowing that it’s okay. My cousin (mom of 3 breastfed all three) told me it’s okay and I could still nurse baby in between supplementing. I just can’t get out of my head. I want so badly to make breast feeding work or for my baby to have my breastmilk. I at least want one thing to go right because my birth didn’t…at all and has left me hurt and depressed about it. And so if one thing could go right this was it, and to see it’s not, and I’m stressing and I know being stressed and feeling/thinking negatively and beating myself up does more damage of all to my supply…and that doesn’t help makes me want to be upset with myself more. Advice…support…both would be appreciated.

Why do you think you supply is low? I’m sure you’re supply is enough for you baby, the milk is regulated according to the baby's needs. If you’re unsure in some point working with a lactation consultant would be the best!
She is fussy during her feeds and gets upset. She has a great latch and doctor isn’t concerned with her latch. The past three days I have felt the difference. And when I pump shortly after like 30 minutes to an hour I only pump not even an 1oz (and that’s collectively) the other day when I pumped one side expressed milk and the other didn’t

She can be fussy for many reasons, maybe gas, reflux, intestinal hyperpermeability, alergies… if she is around 3 months old could be a growth sproud. If she is not sleeping well colud be so much effort for her to suck

Your pumping looks like mine, I was pumping and giving bottles to my baby for 4 weeks because she was having a hard time latching and I could pump 10-12oz or more every 2h. When she started to beast feed more, the pump just stop working on one breast I don’t know why… I feel like sometimes the breast just want the baby! With the lactation consultant we weighed here before and after a feeding and she was getting 5oz in a short amount of time (and she was fussy during and after the feeding too) so, believe in your capacity!!! (And, if you’re plan is exclusive breastfeeding, I wouldn’t introduce bottles without the help of a lactation consultant and good care plan for your case)

My boy gets fussy during feeds sometimes too. Usually he needs to burp and then he's okay. He also pulls off a lot because he wants to look at all the things instead of focusing on the feed. If she takes a bottle maybe try exclusively pumping for a while or try power pumping. Also make sure you're SUPER hydrated.
With that said, if you decide to go to strictly formula feeding, that's fine too. I had trouble with my first when it came to breastfeeding, she wasn't gaining weight. We moved to formula feeding around 3-4 months, and while it made me feel like I was failing my daughter, I knew that her health was what mattered most and continuing to do something that would put her in poor health was failing her more. Your daughter has gotten the benefits of breast milk for almost 3 months now, in the most essential time before her vaccines. You've done more than enough for her

If you are getting anything during a pump that you arent feeding to her shortly after, then you technically have an oversupply. To increase, try power pumping once a day, and pump for 10-15 mins immediately after you nurse at least 3 times a day. This will simulate cluster feeding which increases supply. And as others said, there are lots of reasons she could be fussy. Including cluster feeding and she wants more so is trying to increase your supply naturally. Which is totally normal. Unless she is screaming with clenched fists all day, even after just nursing, then she isnt going hungry. You can tell she is full when her hands relax. Some women also just have a harder time with pumps than with nursing and getting 1oz when you are also nursing is more normal than you would think. You could also try a different pump and make sure your flanges are properly sized.

Around 12 weeks, your supply will also regulate, meaning you won't get engorged as often and your let down may not be as strong. Basically your body is getting used to how much your baby wants to eat. With my daughter, my wearable pump stopped working for me right around that time. I had to switch to a wall pump and even still wasnt getting much extra, but she was satisfied and getting enough to continue growing on her curve. When I stopped nursing and tried pumping full time, that's when I had to start supplementing because I couldnt pump enough and i just wasnt up to doing it round the clock to keep up.

There’s a few reasons this could be happening. First is you’re not getting the nutrients YOU need to make milk. The others could be as simple as needing to replace pump parts so your pump is emptying you properly to making sure you’re completely empty after every single feed no matter if anything comes out pump every time you nurse. Supplementing is absolutely perfectly fine until you feel comfortable with your supply

All these ladies have said such encouraging things. Just to add on, your body usually is regulated to what baby needs. My baby was FORCED a bottle in hospital because he wasn't getting enough. You can weigh your baby before and after a feeding to check that. My boy had a tie, which didn't help his latch, or feeding, or getting supply up. Most days I don't have to give him a bottle, but some days I have to give him one. It's still not quite where it needs to be, but he is healthy. ❤️☺️

wow how on earth are you getting 10-12 ounces every two hours?!

How old is baby
if I pump right after feeding and nothing comes out that’s fine? Just as long as it stimulate and gets the breast “thinking” it needs to start producing
she is 10 weeks almost 11.
I don’t have a scale for her. Do you recommend one that’s cost friendly?
yes I need to pump more for sure and need to work on getting the nutrients I need
what pump do you recommend? I was gifted my Momcozy s9 pro. It works great cause I use to be able to pump collectively almost 3-4 oz. Just the past couple weeks have been really weird. And a bit of a struggle

I use my scale. I weigh myself, and then with baby.

It does sound like a growth spurt, though. :) good luck.

I have a few wearables - the same momcozy, elvie stride, and baby buddha. I have the spectra gold and the blue one.

I went through something very similar. Three different times I had to go back to hospital after delivery one time was really scary I was quarantined for 24 hrs. We needed to use formula I was SO depressed and heart broken because I just wanted to nurse my babies. And then they finally brought me my babies and one of my twins forgot how to latch I went through another heartbreak after that. People don’t understand how badly we crave that bond and I had to tell myself my baby just wants to eat she doesn’t care what it is. I held her and cuddled her close and kept trying kept trying kept trying and now 5 weeks later my supply is back up, no more formula my baby latches just find. I really had to treat it like a job. I’m so sorry that your birth didn’t go as planned it probably the hardest thing to prepare for because we have no control. The breast feeding thing too really gets us I feel like, as moms, I had to start telling people too when I would bring my twins to visit or travel

To see family I would bring bottles and pump so I wasn’t taking them away from everyone to feed them and that made me so sad. I was doing it for everyone else because people would say “just bring a bottle” “let me help feed” I quit doing that. I finally said “let me feed my babies, if you want to help me just let me boob feed my babies and I’ll bring them right back out” no one argued with me (usually my mom) I felt like my babies were crying for me or looking for me when they are being passed around and they start fussing it actually hurts my heart! I grab them comfort them and nurse them and I’m glad I didn’t give up and I set my boundary. Good luck mama. I’m currently pumping at 3:44 in morning also while my babies sleep until 8 am just to keep up with supply. It’s hard work and your mental health comes first. Formula is just as okay. I share my story just to relate I guess that it affects us emotionally and give it your best shot and no matter what just cuddle and love on them

That’s all my babies want, and food they definitely want food. They had no issues with dad feeding them formula for 24 hrs by the way my babies were just as happy lol!

And sorry for so many responses but I also give up a feed at night time the girls don’t want me they don’t want to work at the noon and want bottles. So dad takes over i really felt hurt with that one too took me a couple days to accept that
totally fine I appreciate the replies. I’m trying and am determined but not gonna lie it is affect my mental health. What things did you keep at it that you think really helped?
smart, and then just do the difference

when around family, why did you need to go into another room to feed them? I'm just curious. Is there a reason you couldnt just feed them right there? Like why were the options bottle or leave the room? If you were trying to be modest you could use a nursing cover for privacy and then it's not time away, but you still get to nurse.

well since I have twins and large breasts (I was DD before pregnancy) covers don’t work so much because my boobs are so huge. I have to see where their mouths and noses are and watch closely so my breast isn’t pressing on their nose so they can breathe. I’m basically totally topless with my nursing pillow and uncovered. People that are included in family that I go in separate room for are my male cousins, step dad, my aunts new boyfriend (who’s a doctor but still)

but NOW I take my babies and nurse in another room half naked and happy. I don’t care about taking my babies away from everyone to eat 😂 they all survive and I always tell them thank you for offering to help me with a bottle but that just means I will have to pump and I don’t want to do that.

ahh that makes perfect sense! I was thinking you feed one at a time. But now I see why its easier that way!
