Evening routine for 8 o’clock bed time?

My son’s gone from being asleep by 6:15 to being wide awake till 9 and refusing to fall asleep alone.
It’s driving me insane but whatever so tomorrow I’m just going to not take him up until 8:15 and see what happens then.
this is such a huge difference I’m not sure on what to do with him all evening. I usually cook and eat my dinner once he’s in bed. This is a wind down time for me.

People whose kids go to bed late, when do they eat and like… what do you even do with them all evening lol

My son is 5 and normally isn't asleep until after 9pm no matter what I do. I would eat with him or wait until after he goes to bed at about 8.30pm to eat and chill. He's currently needing a lot of reassurance when going to bed either wanting me to stay with him or constantly calling me. Feel free to message me if you want to talk

My LO goes to bed around 9, sometimes 10 if we’re unlucky. He also used to be in bed for 6.30 so it was a massive shock and also frustrating as it means we have zero adult time but a friend told me to lean into it and I’d be less frustrated!

I try to keep the earlier part of the evening very busy so we play with lots of toys and he crawls/tries to walk everywhere. Then I put him in his high chair and we all make dinner together. Then we all eat dinner at the same time around 6.30 and that takes a while eating and cleanup. After clearing up we read some books until it’s time to go up and start bedtime routine.

Just put mine to bed now. Normally we finish work about 5-6 and aim to eat around 7:30 so that 1st part of the evening over. I like to wind down a bit after dinner, he plays either indoors or out, sometimes I let him have his ‘watch something’ or its bath time after that. Teeth brushing around 8:30. Bed around 9pm for him and then we’re asleep normally by 10-10:30. It actually doesn’t bother me most nights. Some nights we’re exhausted and I wish for a 7pm spot on routine. But reality we’d never see him if we didn’t. He gets up about 8 most mornings. It suits us. Things may change when it starts to get darker evenings again or when he starts school next year.

My boy has an 8-8.30pm bedtime - dinner as a family 6-6.30, play until 7.30, brush teeth and into pjs for 8 then settle into bed after that.

Mine has been tough to get to sleep for a long time, tbh. He consistently has 9-10 hours of sleep a night and just gets more and more tired as the week goes on. Yesterday he was horrendous so we took him for a drive in the car at 6pm so he'd fall asleep and we could transfer him. He's woken up full of beans as he's finally caught up. I don't want this to become a thing we have to do every now and then but it might be 😂

My ideal would be for him to be in his room by 8pm and he can do whatever he needs to do until he falls asleep. We've tried no toys, lots of toys, colouring books, quiet activities, audiobooks, music, meditation. Nothing works at the moment and he wants me with him until he drifts off.

So, not sure if that rambling was helpful but you're definitely not alone.

I wish I had a car so I could just drive around with him to sleep😭I’m tempted to go backwards and just stay in bed with him until he’s asleep so he’s not taking 3 hours :/

Is it bc it’s summer? The girls are going to bed way later now because it’s summer & no school so I feel like they’re not stimulated enough in the day to keep the school routine kinda bedtime haha..

They’re going to bed around 8:30 now and sleeping til 9:30am😂😂

But when they were still at school it was 7pm bed & 7am wake…

Winter though usually they’ll sleep 6:30pm and wake around 8am x

Also we still do a big lunch (around 2pm) and then for ‘dinner’ they have fruit, toast, cereal etc haha..

Then if they’re hungry before they actually go to sleep they’ll just help themselves to yoghurt or a bag of crisps or whatever x

Can someone pls help i keep making this post and nobody is responding

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Night time routine

Heya, my 3 week old daughter is currently exclusively breastfed and I’m not pumping. Can anyone recommend the best way to share the load with my partner? At the moment I’m doing all the feeds/burbs/settling and my partner is sleeping through which obviously isn’t sustainable, I’m trying to work out the best way to get him involved. Any advice very much appreciated!

Rant/WWYD

My sister (youngest, 24) has two kids, 4 & 1, and i (oldest, 30) just have my one who’s 6mo old right now, so i ask her for advice or call her to vent about things sometimes. Well im tired of her turning around and telling my other family members that I’m “losing my sh*t.” Literally have not lost my sh*t nor have i ever freaked out to her about my baby, i just call her to talk and tell her what stage my baby is in or talk through how im feeling, but she chooses to tell people that im like a complete nutcase or something which worries me that my family is going to start being judgmental about me as a mother or looking at me funny like I’m some fragile ticking time bomb.

What would you do in this situation? I’m already pretty much decided that I’ll stop telling her anything about my struggles, but I’m almost at the point where i feel like it should be confronted because she, of all people, should understand what I’m going through.
