Single parent/child care/Lcwra

I’m a single parent on UC and I have LCWRA I’m wondering how child care costs work with me being on LCWRA? Does anyone have any experience with this? Any help would be appreciated x

I’m personally not in any situation like this because I don’t claim anything and married but I saw a very similar post not so long ago on another app so can pass on what was said there. There was a few comment all saying that unfortunately because you are single you have to be working to claim the free hours or the uc 85% thing but wen ur little one turned two because you’re on uc you should be able to get 15 free hours. Please don’t hold me to this this is just what I’ve read other mums say

I’m on the same we get 15 hours free childcare when they turn 2 years old

If you are in LCWRA, which my understanding is limited capability for work and work related actives, which you only get if you have a disability (of any kind, mental health included), which severely impacts your ability to work, a lot of evidence of needed for this. And due to that, you are entitled to up to 85% childcare cost paid, you will have to pay the full amount initially, and then in your next statement they’ll pay the 85% childcare back. The childcare you find needs to me ofstead registered to count as part of the scheme. I was on LCWRA (do not claim currently), and I was supported by UC at the time to put my LO into a childcare setting to allow me to have restbite due to my complex health issues. This was before the 15hrs funded were given to over 9m. You can always ask in your journal to double check? 😘 x

Thank you everyone for the replies. I may wait till he’s 2 to go to nursery I was initially going to let him go for a couple of days when he’s 18 months just to help me out abit for a few hours break x
