Hot shot method

Is the hot shot method using the Nuby Rapid Cool safe and NHS approved??

So much easier than having to sterilise every after every use and waiting 3 hours for it to reset.

Thanks!

What is it you are steralising and waiting 3 hours for? Sorry im a little confused?

I thought if you used the Nuby (by adding the formula into the Rapid Cool) you then have to sterilise after each use by using the cold water method - it then takes 3 hours to reset before you can use again??

I don’t think the rapid cool is even NHS approved never mind the hot shot method. When I asked my HV about it she said they can’t recommend them. I think if you’ve not had any issues with the hotshot method I’d keep doing it because I know loads of people do. I don’t , I just use then cold water sterilise mine and it only takes half an hour max.

Can't say if is nhs approved but I have been doing it on and off for months now and I had zero problems. Also I don't notice any difference between feeds done with the hot shot method and the classic nhs method.

tbh I’m the same as you, I don’t use the hot shot method at the minute but I’d seen it online and thought it would save the sterilising etc - but maybe I’ll just carry on as I have been ☺️

We don't use the rapid cool but do something similar when we're out and about, with a shot of boiling water from a flask into the bottle to mix with the formula, and then top up to the correct volume with cooled boiled water that we also keep in a flask. It's worked for us so far :)
When we're at home, we make 6 bottles at a time with 70 degree water and store in the fridge and heat when needed (using within 24hrs)

I think the 3 hours gap is for the rapidcool to reset to be able to cool effectively. That isn't affected by the sterilising method. I might be wrong though!
I try to wash and sterilise as soon as I've used it ready for later in the day. I don't use it for every bottle though, more just for overnight and when out, otherwise I make bottles a little ahead of when needed and allow them to cool naturally.

The rapid cool does conform to NHS guidelines as said above, but the hot shot way of using it isn’t in the rapid cool instructions so can’t say for sure unfortunately 😔
I have used it this way when I know I’ll be out long enough to need more than one feed on the go and don’t have the means of washing and sterilising.
And the 3hrs wait is for the rapid cool to be ready for use again with regards to being cool enough and reading temperature accurately etc. not to do with the sterilising xx

I use the hot shot method with it just for the night feeds but then use the cold water steriliser after each use in the day. I’m sure I read somewhere that if you are using the cold water steriliser you don’t need to wait 3 hours for it to reset but can’t remember where I saw it now. Mine has always worked under the 3 hour mark though, might just take a little longer

There was a deal on very a few weeks back and I brought the 2 pack of rapid cools! Absolute life saver! I use either method - I have started to use the hot shot method for a bit purely because I found the lids have started to smell a bit (I cleaned them out every time I used it with milk etc with the brush and a Milton wipe!)

I use the nuby rapid cool all the time for every feed even when we’re at home. I use the ‘hot shot’ method. I don’t sterilise the nuby rapid cool after every use as I’m putting boiling hot water in it, so I sterilise about once a week

Help

My 5 week old is always up from 1am every hour grunting and squeaking and just won’t sleep. I end up having to bring him with me and I’m worried I’m creating a rod for my own back. I’m exhausted. First half of the night he’s okish. But from 1/2 it’s absolute hell. He farts a lot then as well but I just dunno what to do. Last night was the worst it’s been.

Not sure what’s wrong- 5months

Has anyone experienced any of the below problems with their baby?
He’s always a happy baby so this is completely not him. He’s a terrible sleeper but now it’s worse, if it could.

He’s was EBF but now on formula for the last 2 weeks. 2 days in a row now he’s vomitted a lot of milk out everywhere in the evening and just before bed.
For example I was walking around the room with him around 18:45 and it just came out of no where everywhere.

He’s very miserable and takes ages to get to sleep. Crying lots.
He’s been dribbling a lot, flushed one cheek but I can’t see any teeth coming.

All night he just won’t settle in his cot. Sometimes just starts crying hysterically and I can’t settle him at all.

A very tired mama.

Any advise on what it could be?

Sleeping through

If your baby is sleeping through the night are you ever nervous about saying that to other parents with babies of the same age? My toddler no longer sleeps through without coming into our bed but did until about 11 months old and now my 11 week old has been sleeping solid for 3 or 4 weeks now. I always feel like I can’t say it to other mums because it comes across like I’m showing off…I know what the sleep deprivation feels like and how you can just resent anyone for anything🤣 but I kind of feel like I can’t relate sometimes.

Pregnancy insomnia??!

Hey, I’m 28 weeks and this is my 3rd baby. For the past 2 weeks I am able to get to sleep fine but really struggling with 3-4am wake ups. Once I wake up I cannot get back to sleep, meaning come 9-10am I am absolutely exhausted. Has anyone gone through this and is able to shed some tips on what might help
Xx

Is there any correlation between sleeping through the night and types of feeding?

Did your baby age 0-6months sleep through the night, 6 hours or more, and how were they fed? It always see like formula fed babies sleep through the night sooner than breastfed babies.
