So I started BLW and its coming up for 2 weeks now. Really enjoying it but was wondering did any of you guys help feed your baby too ? When you firstt started.
At the start he didnt always show interest but now he when he out the plate infront of him he goes for his food right away but stil i help feed him here and there until he is able to fully understand the concept of chewing and trying to bite etc! At times he does manage to bite bits off and swallow or just bring it out if its too much but if the food is soft and mashable I just tend to squish is and put it in his mouth and he swallows more to make sure he gets something in his belly.
I see so many vids on TT of babies eating and biting food off but I am assuming these videos are edited and they dont really show half the food on thr floor or them feeding their babies or encouraging them..
Just some advice please I am a FTM so its all new to me. Xx

My daughter is 8 months old and occasionally I'll feed her some bites of certain foods but for the most part I'll let her try to feed herself. :)

I definitely helped along the way. Especially when it came to softer food like avocado or anything slippery

We just started last week, I put only a few items on babies plate prepared in a way she can easily pick up. She does pick the food up and put it in her mouth but also throws a lot around, Im usually standing right infront of the high chair catching as much thrown food as I can before it hits the floor lol.
For more liquid foods like yoghurt or oats or purées I just spoon feed her as the mess is too much, I give her an empty spoon to hold and let her think she’s helping.
Sometimes I also pass food to her hand if I see she’s not noticing or losing interest and I spoon feed mashed versions alongside sometimes too
