Hi fellow moms,
I'm seeking advice on night weaning while co-sleeping. Co-sleeping is quite common in Asian culture, and I chose it for my baby when he was 4 months old because I couldn't and didn't want to do the cry-it-out method. Fast forward to now, he's 12 months old and wakes up every 1 to 3 hours to latch. I want him to sleep longer so we can both be well-rested.
How did you manage to night wean your little ones? The Hatch light didn't work for us, and he cries if he's not latching, whether it's for naps or night sleep. He's doing well with solids and is exclusively breastfed.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I’m in the same exact situation!! He doesn’t want to sleep in his crib, I’m getting him a twin size bed and placing a guard rail to see if he’ll stay. I’m trying to not give him the breast during the day and slowly weaning him off of it during the night. The nights are the hardest so far 😩

He wants to latch to sleep and I am fine with it as long as it's not between 12 to 6 in the night

I was doing the same thing until a couple days after his first birthday. His pediatrician gave me the confidence to try the cry it out method since I had the hardest time doing it. I had to try crib-training him though since the lack of sleep and frequent walking to latch/reposition was becoming too difficult.
His pediatrician said “just think if you were in the car and he’s in the car seat, you’re stuck in back to back traffic and you couldn’t stop to go back there and comfort him, he would need to figure it out and eventually self-soothe”.
Having that mindset helped when he was crying after placing him in the crib but it only lasted 4-5 rounds of my husband going in after 5 mins to reassure him he’s okay (no picking him up just telling him and rubbing his back or tummy). Then after about 15-20 minutes of this, he eventually fell asleep. It’s lasted about 2 weeks..he just started waking up again in the middle of the night but we think because of teething that’s been bothering him

I think starting to transition to baby sleeping in his own bed could be a solution to encourage longer sleep stretches. My girl has been in her own bed since about 4 months when I stopped co-sleeping. I never did the cry it out method. I would get up and respond to her and feed her back to sleep (breastfed). She has naturally connected her sleep over time and now at a year old she is starting sleep through the night. We are on a streak of 5 out of 7 days this week she has slept through the night. My girl has a pacifier which helps her settle into sleep. Remember it’s not just co-sleep or sleep train. You can gently provide opportunities for your baby to settle themselves by waiting a few moments to see if they are really calling out for help or just making noise. Offer opportunity for independence but provide lots of support during the transition.

Thanks we are trying cosleeping with dad last two days n I m in next room so let's see
