Given up and letting little one cry 😪😪😪

We have finally given up trying to help get longer sleep stretches and are at the point we are just letting her cry for 3/5 mins, then going and pattering her chest/stroking her face for a few minutes and leaving and it starting again. It’s been going on for 1 hour now and don’t know if we are also closer to sleep but honestly at our absolute end of what we can manage.

For 1 month maybe even 2 months she has woken up every 2 hours and not settled with anything other than feed (exclusively breast fed). It’s too much on me, feed takes 20 mins and then in takes me 20/30 mins to get back to sleep and then she’s up again, so I’m getting about an hours sleep at a time in between the feeds. We have tried settling her in other ways but it doesn’t work. She at times has slept in dad’s arms for an hour or so just so I can get 2/3 hour blocks of sleep. Bedsharing doesn’t help - she still wakes and wants the feeds to settle, and I end up falling asleep so then I wake up and she is still latched and I’m sore. Having her in her own room doesn’t help (tried for 5 nights and it didn’t improve at all).

I just think my mental health needs more sleep, I feel genuinely tortured. I have no patients with my baby or my toddler. I swear around them and feel so angry towards them when they cry. I feel like a failure all day long. My relationship is almost non-existent. My body aches every day. I don’t look forward to events because I’m so exhausted and I hate peoples comments. I never wanted to let my baby cry but I don’t see another option. I’d welcome comments telling me not to do this because I think I’m desperately hoping someone can convince me that the damage I will cause my baby by letting her cry like this is worse than the damage to my mental health right now. But I’m convinced that my state of mind is critical right now, I can not continue with this bad sleep. I need some form of hope that it’ll change. Even 4 hour blocks of sleep would be absolutely manageable.

Hey have you considered feeding formula at night ? Breast fed baby’s tend to be a bit like this and will wake multiple times in the night to use you as a dummy and for comfort x

I could have written this myself. I hate the way I am right now, always angry with my older daughter and my husband and it’s just because I’m exhausted. My baby also wants feeding every wake up and won’t settle with anything else, dad tries to help but it never works and just stresses me out more listening to it. Anyway, I don’t have any advice just wanted you to know you’re not alone. As suggested above you could try formula, personally I don’t want to give my baby anything but BM until a year old which I appreciate is my choice. It’s tough! Xxx

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

Not drinking

I’m going crazy. Baby born at 2.26kg. Slow to put on weight. This last week hasn’t put on any. Been trying to feed him at night and he’s not interested at all. Fast asleep. During day he will have 5 minute gulps and that’s it. He don’t cry for milk. I’ve got to keep offering to him. I try to offer it every hour but I don’t know what I’m doing. HV said nutrition comes after 5 minutes so I should pump first and then give him. I find it so hard. I tried to pump one boob nothing came. The other abit came. Tried giving him express he’s not interested in that too. Sometimes he will go for a longer a feed but not long at all. He’s 4 months and is currently 5.46kg. I have no family or friend support here and wish I had a cook, cleaner and nanny to help with everything so I can concentrate on the little one. I don’t know what’s wrong with him but I’m loosing it. It doesn’t help that my also stressed generally about my relationship and life circumstances. Any advice that will work. Any comfort you can give. I’m fed up. Is this regression - not feeding. He’s fast fast asleep. I’ve been trying to push the nipple in but that mouth is closed shut. I took some clothes off. Changed his nappy but he’s still asleep. Please help

Am I wrong?

I’ve been wanting to add more garden beds to my garden. Husband says “hey do you want to go to Home Depot to get that wood for the garden beds.” Cool I’m excited I’ve been wanting to get this done for awhile.

We get there and we’re picking out wood and I make 2 comments about how I don’t like how 2 pieces of wood look that he picked out. And he says if you’re going to be this picky then u can do this yourself.

I literally made 2 comments and mind you I’m the one paying for the wood.

I felt dismissed and like my opinion didn’t matter and if I wanted to have an opinion then I need to do it myself. Like what?

It was rude and not okay. Am I wrong? Am I overreacting?

He thinks it was fine that he said that.

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
