Is a softer mattress bad for baby?

So, my baby girl’s sleep has always been terrible, shes still breastfed so shes up every 2 hours or so sometimes less if shes teething or unwell.

Two days ago, We came to my mums house and i decided to put a big soft blanket around her mattress as the one in my mums is very firm and uncomfortable… low and behold baby girls sleep has been 10 times better! Shes currently napping for 2.5 hours as I type this, I could cry 😭

Im wondering whether the mattress we have for her at home is too firm but the reviews said it was great hence why I brought it. Or could it just be that shes in a new environment and is super tired because my mums house is packed… bear in mind shes been at my mums plenty of times and her sleep hasn’t been this good.

Is there such a thing as a mattress being too soft?? Has anyone noticed their babys sleep improving with a softer mattress?

Girl I feel this!!! My son is also bf and although doesn’t feed much in the day now, he is on me ALL night. He’s now on a floor bed with a normal firm mattress which is much softer than the cot mattress we had. At this age it is okay to have them on a softer mattress. There is “too soft” still and avoid memory foam at all costs. But you can always pad out the mattress with a sheet but bear in mind this will hold more heat too. Can’t say there’s been any sleep improvement but he now enjoys his bed. We also use a toddler pillow and duvet for him (duvet sometimes, pillow most times)

We have a double sized floor bed and the safety advice is that firm - medium firm is safe over 12 mo. We have gone with a firm ikea mattress for peace of mind but it’s a lot better than her cot mattress which was stiff as a board (understandable for small babies but can’t be comfortable at toddler age). Avoid anything with thick quilt pockets over the top or anything with foam / memory foam

Big bed

Did anyone put their little ones into a Montessori bed or toddler bed early? I’m due my second baby in September and I love our cot and would love to get more use out of it. But my daughter will only be 17 months when baby arrives.

I was thinking of using the cot for the baby/going in the babies room and then getting my girl a Montessori bed but before baby arrives to avoid too many transitions at once.

Wondered if anyone has done the same and it didn’t ruin their sleep ect?

What age did you stop breastfeeding?

So I love my breastfeeding journey and I’m not trying to stop anytime soon. My youngest just turned 1. Does anyone have any positive stories to share about their journey and how you dealt with things like biting, dips in supply, or self-weaning?

Help. It’s 10:21 pm and I want to give up. I don’t enjoy being a mom.

My 6 week old baby girl has been crying nonstop today, and nothing seems to soothe her. She’s been really gassy, and we think she might have reflux since she’s also been spitting up frequently. She only wants to stay on the breast as well . Shes been feeding for almost an hour, and every time I try to unlatch her, she starts crying again. Has anyone experienced this or know what might be going on? What can I do to help her ? Am I supposed to just let her suck on my breast for the whole night ? I love my baby so much but I’m so frustrated and wish my baby would stop crying.

Newborn car seat recommendations please

We have a 2 week old baby around 7 lbs7 and his current car seat (nuna pipa next) is not fit for purpose, it doesn’t recline and it forces him into a slumped position with chin thrust to his chest. I don’t feel comfortable taking him anywhere in the car. Please can you share your recommendations for a safe and comfortable car seat suitable for a newborn?
