My daughter is 8.5 months and eats lots of purées and yogurt but whenever we give her something that’s a little thicker in texture or chunky to attempt to prepare her for finger foods and real solids she gags til she throws up… her milk intake definitely isn’t keeping her full enough and she wakes up a lot during the night to eat so I want her to eat more solid food but idk what to do if she always gags until she throws up when I’ve given her anything other than puree

You just got to keep trying. My daughter did the same. I would up her milk because that’s their main source until 1 with just solids added it. But I would just find something she can hold and like. We used veggie straws. She loved them and it helped her to learn to grab stuff and eat stuff without gagging. She’s 11 months now and she finally has started to have meals like in the last month or two

My daughter initially didn’t like solid so I started mixing fruit pulp with little solid and now she eats it.

Even my baby loves yogurt and eats only fruits and nothing else so far. I slowly pulsing the purées less

I’m in the same boat with my son! 😩 I’ve been trying to give him strips of ripe banana and puffs recently. He’s getting a little better. Still gagging here and there but he’s eating it

I have the same problem! I will say it's slowly improving. Do you have solid starts? I found I was serving foods incorrectly which was increasing gagging. For example, I was cutting strawberries really small when you're supposed to give them a whole strawberry to gnaw on

Try modify it so there’s different ways you can serve stuff. I’d suggest going up in texture a bit at a time. My son sometimes gags and vomits even tho he knows how to chew food 🤦🏻♀️ he likes to move the food around his tounge sometimes and he learned to not do it that certain way so he wouldn’t gag lol solid starts says to give bigger pieces first so they can “mouth map” is look into that cause that might help so that she’s not actually eating stuff but getting exposure and learning how her mouth and gag reflex works better

Yellow squash is a good one leave in big chunks ond boil with a little salt. And they can naw on it. I have to hold bc my baby likes to squish it till its all over her. Lol
