2nd Child & Completely Paranoid
My first child was born 2 years 9 months ago via induction. I had a relatively straightforward birth and it all happened very quick. Very brief description of what happened:
- Balloon Catheter put in & fell out in around 12 hours
- Admitted to Labour Ward & Waters broken around 2.30am
- Oxytocin drip started at 3am
- Midwife could see on CTG I was having contractions which were getting progressively worse however, I couldn’t feel a thing.
- 6.30am felt some slight period cramps
- 7.20am felt the need for a No.2, did one and by this point contractions were sore and I was on gas and air
- Baby was born at 7.50am
Looking back on this, I am so concerned that I am going to go into labour without knowing and am not going to make it to the hospital on time! Concerned that contractions will feel the same and I won’t be leaving my house to go to the hospital until the very last minute and I am very anxious about this. I understand this is potentially a good situation to be in with not having excruciating pain for hours on end but I can’t help but feel every niggle I should be phoning triage!
Anyone have any advice or had previous babies that have made a very fast and unexpected delivery?!

Wow this sounds like the dream birth experience! I hear you completely on your concerns - all I can think is that your body knows how to birth. So, even if you were out and about very late in labour without knowing it, your body can still birth your baby perfectly fine. Lots of babies are born at home, in the car or out in the wild and although not ideal, it’s not the end of the world.
Girl same! On number 3 both babies came early 35 & 36 weeks, currently 36 with no3 and paranoid about having her at home🤣 eldest went in due to show at around 11pm, they kept me in for the night was told I would be home in the morning, then felt like I needed a poo about 9am which was actually full contractions had him by 9.30am
Baby 2 was 35 weeks minor cramping in my back regular intervals and had been in a few days prior as felt my waters where leaking ( told no and sent home without them actually checking). Kept for obs at around 6pm and told it was my waters leaking.. started bleeding around 8 full contractions had him by 8.30🤣🤣
WHAT I WILL SAY IS no use being paranoid because as much as they’re spontaneous and fast, your instinct will be to go get checked hopefully a few hours prior!
Both times I was told I was going home🤣 and this is what I’m telling myself now just follow your instincts.
I do think I’ve been too lucky with the boys so no3 be 42w & long painful labour🤣
