My son is 3.5 and has co slept with me and my husband since he was born. Now we are TTC for baby #2 and I’m ready for him to sleep in his own bed and room to prepare for a new baby. But it’s been hard? For him and for us. We actually really enjoy sleeping with him and don’t sleep well when he’s not with us. 🤦🏾♀️ but thinking about having a new born and him still in bed with us feels overwhelming already. How have you transitioned your kid to their own bed after co-sleeping their whole life? My son was breastfed for two years so that’s how it started and after he stopped we just never moved him. TIA for any advice.

We are in the same boat , thinking about another baby makes me feel guilty because I don’t want to put my baby in his own room and bed but we want to have another baby but if you have any answer I would love to know because we are in the same boat 🚤. It’s hard think about moving him and having another one .

Unfortunately our transition didn't go well and I feel like it was because our toddler suddenly got put into her own bed and we slept with the newborn? And in her head she didn't understand why she was no longer allowed in the bed and the new baby was?
We were worried about creating jealousy between them... unfortunately we are all sleeping in the same bed 😂 king mattress on the floor, my husband has the toddler on his outer side and I have the baby.
Will be good to see what advise other people have!

Happy Cosleeper on insta has a gentle transitions course on this but I think generally the advice is - set up the bed in their room together and make it special for them. Do that together (choose bedding or something), start just playing there together- no pressure to sleep, move onto naps there, and start introducing boundaries, "naps happen in the big bed", start then the move at night, being consistent but expect big feelings. Floor beds can also help so that you move with them first and gradually move yourself out of their room. This is what I'm doing however she is much younger so a bit easier.

My son is 15 months and sleeps in his own bed he always ends up in mine though. He goes to sleep easily when I read a story to him and then put on his sound machine with pictures. The first couple nights were hard but after that he gets to bed with no problems. (P.S he sleeps through the night and gets in my bed in the morning and goes back to sleep)
