Baby boy is a week old and we have been only breastfeeding. We are wanting to start feeding with bottles at night, but I am not sure when to pump to not mess up my supply. Is this even a good idea? Or do I just power through?
I also might be completely overthinking this because of sleep deprivation 🙃

So you pump instead of a bottle, so will still need to get up, you can risk mastitis and clogged ducts if you drop nighttime BFing in one go.

I do the opposite. We bottle feed and pump through out the day and only breast feed at night. I have a toddler so it’s hard to breast feed during the day lol. So far I’m still producing enough for baby. It might just be because that’s what I’ve been doing since she was born but I don’t think it would hurt to try it for a night. When my supply has dropped it only takes me a day of extra pumping to get it back to where it was.

General advice is to not pump or introduce a bottle til 6 weeks .. now it hasn’t affected me before and I pump plus nurse from the start. If you pump to bottle feed at night you still need to get up and pump those night feeds so your supply doesn’t drop. I’m currently not using my pumped milk so I can build a freezer stash but you could bottle with it right away as well. I’ve considered just pumping this time around but so far I’m just doing both. I do have a oversupply that I choose to just maintain instead of trying to drop down so my experience might be slightly different than the average bf momma
