My LG is 13months and is still on 3 x 6oz bottles of formula or breastmilk per day. Our ped said no more bottles and to start cows milk at her 12month visit. We have both Munchkin 360 and straw cups she does amazing with if there’s water in them. She won’t drink milk from them! She will literally spit it out. I haven’t made the switch to cows milk yet. How did you transition baby off bottles?

No suggestions here 😬 I hope someone can help!
Ours isn't really eating solids and I'm concerned about how to transfer off the bottle when he's not eating. We've tried lowering the amount of formula he's eating in hopes that he'd eat more solids but he didn't and it just completely messed up his sleep 🫠

We transitioned to cows milk first. My LG is still on the bottle but is at least drinking all milk. Getting her to milk is more important than off the bottle right now imo. It took a good 3-4 weeks. We'll be transitioning off the bottle soon.

We are exacltly under the same situation. 6oz bottles of formula 3 times per day. Cant make him drink cow's milk from sippy cup or straw cup. I guess I will try to make him drink cow's milk from his regular bottle.

At 12 1/2 months, I went cold-turkey to whole milk one day and never looked back. I switched out all bottles to straw cups except morning and night. After 3 days, I switched the morning bottle to a Dr browns weighted straw bottle (he was previously using Dr brown bottles). Then after 2-3 days , switched out the night bottle to the weighted straw bottle. Then all bottles went to bottle heaven. That way I couldn’t give in.
I took us awhile to find a good combination of straw cups, the harder it was to suck, the more he hated them. Right now, he may only drink 8-10 ounces a day of milk, but it’s fine because he gets his meals and snacks, plus I make him a smoothie every morning with fruit, milk, yogurt, spinach. He gets whole milk pouches, cheese, yogurt, etc during the day.
I also didn’t want to start a habit of only having one type of straw cup so I’ve been able to vary them, even the morning and night. I go between Zak!, Reduce, Grosmimi, Calla & friends, Lollacup, cloud island.
oh no 🙁 What did the ped say about his eating? That’s so hard mama I’m so sorry!
I was thinking to maybe do that too but the ped really scared me saying bottles needed to be stopped ASAP for their teeth 😭 I’m going to do a mix of formula and cows milk when we switch. It took us MONTHS of mixing breastmilk and formula for my baby to accept formula. I’m worried cows milk is going to be the same struggle
Good luck mama 🙏🏼 I know they have to make the switch soon it’s just hard…
Wow! You guys really have things figured out! My baby eats 3 really balanced meals per day plus a snack like a pouch and cereal in the afternoon after her nap. We do full fat yogurt and cheese every day.
What straw cups do you like the best? The straw cup we have is great but it’s small (maybe 4oz?)

I’m in a similar boat, my baby won’t drink any kind of milk at all, from any cup either 🥲

Well, it did take us awhile. I was driving myself crazy trying to get him to drink more but then I just decided to be real zen about it and told myself “He’ll drink what he drinks”. Once I did that, my stress level went down & I think he vibed off of that. I offer milk in the morning, night, & meals. As long as he has access to water all day, and eats his food, I’m good with the amount of milk he drinks. I mean if he’s full he’s full right?
After trying a million straw cups, here’s the ones I use. For water-Reduce (looks like mini Stanley’s), Zak!, Grosmimi. For milk-Calla&Friends, Cloud island stainless steel, Grosmimi, the straw bottles or just a straw in a cup. For smoothies-Lollacup (easy to suck).
