Long story short, we don’t have anything todo with my husbands parents, or so much his family. When my son was 4 months old his mum slagged me off and started blaming me for her not bothering to have a relationship with our son, even though I would take him there every 3 days to see her, the first time being 4 days PP because she wouldn’t come to ours.
Anyways obviously we are pregnant with baby number 2, and we have been discussing this whole pregnancy whether to tell his family or not. I’m 30 weeks, and we decided to tell the one brother my husband on the odd occasion speaks to, and his brother told the his parents.
His mum then messaged him saying ‘congratulations, hope all goes well’. And then messaged me saying ‘how dare you not tell us, you took that little boy away from us, my son and now you are going to take another little boy away from us too, you are a disgusting human’.
I haven’t responded, but I feel like I should to stick up for myself, my husbands said to ignore her and not rise to her level, but what would you do in this situation?

I would not reply and cut contact. Of course the nature of the message is outrageous and awful but that just proves that there can’t be a relationship between them. If someone is writing jealous, impulsive rage messages like that, then I don’t think they’re likely to have the maturity to receive and process a reply from you that will assist in the matter. Don’t respond and focus on your family.

I wouldn't bother replying as it's more likely just be more distressing for you and they are obviously toxic so won't change. Sometimes writing it all done even if u dont send it can be helpful and then burn it can be restorative. If you do want to respond directly to them then it should be your partner not you.its his family and you shouldn't have to manage them, he needs to stand up for u and his new family unit. U should block their numbers and not have to think about them again x
