My little beauty is 2 days old and she’s been feeding really well although she struggled to latch at first. After a couple of successful feeds, one of the midwives helped her latch on and I told her this was much more painful than before but she told me it should hurt to feed! I’m annoyed I didn’t stand my ground but I let my little girl feed for a couple of minutes while it was really painful. When she pulled away there was a big blood blister at the end of my nipple and I’m now unable to feed her from that side as it’s too sore and needs time to heal. I’m able to express colostrum quite well but it’s very time consuming. I’ve been giving her a feed on the boob that is ok and then colostrum via syringe for the next feed to keep my supply good in both breasts. Now, because she’s only feeding from one boob, I have a tiny blister on the good one. I’m so scared that the next feed will make it 10x worse and I won’t be able to feed her from the breast at all. Has anyone experienced anything like this. What did you do and how long did it take to heal the blisters?

Haven’t have my baby yet, due next week, but our lecture with the lactation consultant said it should not be painful with a good latch because the baby is at the base of the nipple not the nipple itself. If the baby is clamping at the nipple it will be painful for you and a poor letdown/ feed. See if you can get a consult with another lactation consultant

I had the same. Get some lansinoh nipple cream, helped massively and I could still feed
