I remember making tea and toast for one of my Brownie badges back in the day, so I was probably around 8 when I learnt 🤔

I think it depends on the kid though and how competent they are.

I trained my daughter since she was 4 🤣🤣🤣

Mine is 7 but I help hold the kettle for her. She struggles to pour the milk which is 6 pints so might judge it by that.

Definitely depending on the individual. Some children are more danger aware than others. My eldest was maybe around the 7 or so age can't specifically remember. My youngest is 4 so not yet!

My daughter since she was 3, has a toddler tower kitchen thingy. She has been using knives since then and will help me cut up veg etc.

If she makes me a tea, she knows to wait for the kettle to click (only fill it enough for 1 cup) and pours it carefully. The only thing she has a bit of a problem with is taking the tea bag out so it’s usually milky tea. I also keep a tiny Pyrex jug of milk in the fridge which she uses. She will call me when she’s made it as I don’t think she has the co-ordination yet to walk down the tower with it and not spill it on herself.

I follow this lady on IG who has taught her son so many things from a very young age. At 2 he was baking cakes and 3 he was able to cook a steak! I very much try and live by the principle of let kids try to do things on their own as a lot are more capable than we give them credit for. I was making cups of tea for my parents when I was 5.

My oldest yes, my
Middle not until he’s like 12 😂

I would let them now if they took interest.

I was baking at age 6 my mom taught me it's all in what you teach your children

I make tea in the microwave so I'd probably start around 4 or 5 😂

I'm American I don't know any better 😂

I’d say it depends on the kid. At 8 I was already making seasoned and cheesy scrambled eggs, bacon, buttered toast, and coffee for my grandma (legal guardian) in bed some mornings. I also had some classmates my age who would struggle to pour water out of a shoe with instructions on the heel 🥴

Herbal tea? 2
Caffeine Tea? After 12

Depends on the child

My boy is 3 and he makes tea, I just pour the kettle for him.

Depends on the child. My son is 3 and i let him help cook.

Kids can need skin grafts from things like this. I would wait awhile at least until you feel like you’re comfortable. I heard a nurse talking about a 10 year old needing skin grafts from the waist down for making his on “cup of noodles.” She said kids come in all the time with terrible burns from hot water because the water starts peeling off their skin and continues to burn them even after it’s no longer on their skin.

In the event this does happen, constant cold water on the burn and call 911.

i let my child help me with cooking/being near and handling hot water and sharp objects at around age one

My son’s 4 and it was literally part of his “homework” to teach him how to make a cup of tea! I feel like 9 is the age I was cooking so definitely old enough to make some tea

My friend is over from another country but I don't feel like leaving the house

One of my old friend's is visiting where I currently live and we agreed to meet up today but I feel so tired and exhausted from everything that's been going on with me. I feel if I meet her I'm going to end up having another breakdown from the exhaustion which I have been having often. I'm just thinking about how I need to rest to be able to deal with my toddler and go back to work on Monday without feeling like I need another weekend. I'm torn on what to do so I need you guys to help me decide

Post partum dad

I have a 2 month old. A few weeks ago my husband crashed out because he didn't feel like he was getting to bond with her. I started exclusively breastfeeding around that time and honestly didnt see the big deal. Baby and I left for a few days and when we got back home, everything was fine. He was extremely hands-on. He helped with my meals, her bedtime, bath, stories.....for a few weeks it was great. Then he randomly sounds depressed af. He says our lo is better off without him, he wants to sleep all day , he asks me not to watch tv then tried playing a video game. He refused to reply to me when i asked any follow-up questions. Then he woke up our baby trying to race me to the bathroom first thing in the morning . He's doing a weird mix of crying, trying, and giving up. Im starting to feel like I cant handle him not being able to handle life with baby and just want to be alone. Are there resources for men?

Weaning

Hello mamas, could I get some advice please with how and what to wean as started this week with my baby but not really what to give and when what time day. Have started with puree vegetables and making them myself and offering it in the evening to my baby but she tends to get irritated and tired and has a few spoonfulls and then gives up and has a meltdown. So I’m questioning myself am I feeding her wrong time of day and what’s best to mix the food with milk or baby rice please.

Do I need to pay anything when my child starts school in September

I'm a new mum and obviously didn't grow up in the uk. I currently pay roughly £640 for nursery fees. I'm wondering if my expenses will reduce when my LO starts school or there'll be other expenses (besides bags, uniform etc) will my expenses be anywhere close to £600 monthly?

People telling you your baby is hungry..

I know people don’t always mean it in a bad way and are trying to relate, but when people say my baby is hungry when chewing his hands. I feed him regularly. He eats pretty much every 2 hours. He isn’t hungry, he just loves chewing and exploring his hands. Or they say something about teething, which it is also not, as he isn’t unsettled with it. I have looked into it myself and can be common and neither of those things! He has done it most of the day since 2 months old.
