Is it okay for my daughter to eat dry couscous?

She's been loving grainy things recently and wanted dry couscous...

Do you mean dry as it not cooked? Or just by itself?

Couscous is a grain and grains should be cooked before digestion. If it’s your first time dealing with it Put it in a bowl, pour salted boiling water over it, you can put some chopped fresh herbs, a bit of lemon and olive oil. Let it sit for 10-15. Mix it and give it to her like that. It’s so good 😮‍💨 pairs great with beef, chicken, goat and some fish.

I don't think it's good for digestion. It's like eating uncooked pasta or rice.

How old?

Cooked and dry yes, raw and dry no

I assume she means cooked guys 😂

@Grace good point 🤣🤣 "dry" as in uncooked? Or dry as in no flavour...just plan ? OP?

Need clarification on whether you mean plain or uncooked because uncooked grains are obviously absorbent and should be cooked before eating

I voted “no” but it’s because I thought you meant not cooked. It’s fine to eat if it’s been cooked.

I meant not cooked I think. Like I normally 'cook' it by pouring boiling water over it and letting it sit for 3 minutes, but she was insistent on just having it dry. She's totally fine, she didn't eat much and I mixed it with some seeds so it wasn't all couscous.

You must cook it next time
