Is It Safe to Store Pump Parts in the Fridge Between Uses?

Hi all,I am an exclusively pumping mom of a 3-month-old, using a hospital-grade pump and pumping 6 to 7 times a day. Washing the pump parts after every use has become challenging while taking care of my baby. Is it okay to store the pump parts in the fridge after one use and wash them after the second use? This would make my life a little easier, but I want to check if it is safe. Any advice would mean a lot.

I found a lactation consultant after my daughter and she actually recommended putting everything in the fridge, rather than washing between pumps. It was a game changer! Still reduces bacterial/microbial growth. Just make sure to sanitize after, at least once a day.

If you’re going to do this (which I do sometimes) I would rinse with hot water first and then make sure to seal them in a clean bag. I keep a large ziplock in my pump bag and will occasionally wash it through with a soapy cloth if it ever gets any water spots/milk in it and leave it open on the bottle rack to dry

The fridge hack saved my sanity while exclusively pumping. I have a container that I store my pump parts in after use and sterilise both my pump parts and the airtight container once every 24hours. Baby is now 16 weeks and I've been doing it since about one month.

Yes it is.. FDA only ‘recommends not’ to do fridge method which means it’s a very low risk of anything ever happening.. there are no studies to prove fridge method is riskier than washing after every use..as ladies said just make sure you rinse with hot water and store in ziplock bag or container immediately after pumping. Then Wash once a day (every 24hrs max) ..Putting it in the fridge slows down the bacteria growth which is what you trying to achieve prior to washing it so it’s important you don’t leave it lying about at room temp for a long period before putting in the fridge as it defeats the purpose.
I did it for my lil one and she’s 10month now ..as Missy said it saved my sanity and made me keep going with pumping.

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.
opinions about how not necessary it is will not be appropriate for this post. Thank you in advance. 🩵

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

I feel like just a milk cow

Hi I have a 16 day old via c section, I'm a FTM never having been around babies before as I am the youngest of my household and from a small family. My husband is fantastic with our little one. But ever since I've had the baby I just feel like the only thing I'm good for is producing milk. I feel disconnected from my husband like the only reason he's around is because am producing milk. We were having some issues before the baby and we're struggling it took a while to feel like he was onboard even though he said he was from the moment we found out. I dunno if I'm feeling like a spear part because I'm lacking confidence with baby or because I feel like he wouldn't mind being a single dad. Is this postpartum hormones or something else?

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

How long did it take for your child’s circumcision to heal and you could give him a bath?

I’ve just been wiping him down with a fiber wash cloth but I just wanted to know from others experience on how long it took
