Stay home husband

My husband is on paternity leave and he is putting the idea that instead of paying for day care he should stay with the kids. Literally the same we are paying for day care is his annual salary. Not sure what to do. Any advices ?

Opposite here (Stay at home wife not husband) but this is what we chose to do.
My whole paycheck each week would have went entirely to daycare so we saw it as pointless. I stay home with him.
He still gets socialization with kids at mommy groups, story time at library, etc...

Same here. My paycheck would only cover daycare and the extra gas needed. Therefore, we decided for me to stay home, which also ensures that weekends are actually off for us, as I get 90% of chores done while my husband is at work
Also considering how often they get sick while at daycare we would probably need something additional for this times, so just not worth it for us

This is what we eventually plan to do with my partner. I make more with OT, so it makes more sense for him to stay home with baby.

I love that idea

I'd only agree to this IF he was good around the home. I.e., doses he do cleaning and housework? Cooking? I wouldn't want this as my partner wouldn't do as much as I do at home on maternity leave, so I'd end up resenting him.

Depends if he’s going to do it well - taking the baby out and assist in babies development. Do home chores etc or is he going to use the time to slack off and do the bare minimum

It depends. In the long term, how will this affect his job prospects to take a chunk off? Is he super patient and good with the kids for long stretches of time already without needing breaks? Will he be losing an important part of his identity or structure that keeps him feeling good? Is is possible to first try working part time? Also, who can he meet up with? I've noticed a lot of dads have more trouble with social connection when staying home because a lot of weekday activities and groups are more mom oriented . He would often be the only guy, which could be fine but it depends on his personality and how he'd feel about that

We did this when my kids were little because the money didn't make sense and wanted to be with them as much as possible. I stayed home with my son for the first year and he stayed home with our daughter for her first year. It worked well for us.

After my brother was born, my dad was the sahp, and he was brilliant. My mum earnt more and my dad was more suited to day to day childcare (he's way more patient). It worked for our family, even if it was unusual back in the 90s

My husband did this with our first son and it was AMAZING! I felt free to keep pursuing my career and he got to spend time with our first born at museums and exploring

Omg thank you ladies so much for the advise! Definitely will seat down with him and see if he look into what responsibilities comes with it. It literally makes sense that he stays home as he literally will be working just to pay day care. I appreciate all the input mamas💕💕

If your partner got a prostitute pregnant and then abandoned the child/ran away, what would be your response? Read…

So you were not in a relationship at the time or were about to be in a relationship, he gets the prostitute pregnant.
It’s her fault for not taking their morning after pill.
He tells her straight up that he’s not going to be involved and that she should terminate it.
She says that she won’t terminate and she hopes that he does stick around

So she deliberately gets pregnant, basically traps him

What would be your reaction?
he’s response is:
“She trapped me and it’s her fault for not taking the pill”

STD rates and body count

Saw an interesting video and I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this topic!

So std rates are at an all time high as we all know. Do you think the mindset that body count doesn’t matter has contributed to the significant increase of STDs and HIV?

Secondly if someone says that body count doesn’t matter do you believe they are less likely to practice safe sex compared to people who believe in more traditional values?

I can’t put all the combinations in the poll so feel free to comment just yes/no answers

(If you’re going to reply please keep your responses respectful and polite.)
