Nipple trauma - help!

I have nipple trauma on my right side (caused by combination of bad latch and cluster feeding). It got to the point where I was crying with pain when feeding from that side. I am resting that side and only feeding from my left. I'm pumping/expressing from the right to keep my supply up but baby won't take the bottle so most of that is going down the sink. I'm getting help with the latch once the nipple has healed.

Has anyone else had a similar thing? I'm worried he's not getting enough from the left side. I'm also not getting much out from pumping and am scared my supply will suffer- does the supply recover?

Just looking for some reassurance really. I feel awful I can't feed him properly.

I wouldnt pour the milk down the drain! You never know if baby will take a bottle later and you can always use it for baths etc.

Are you sure you have the correct flange size? Depending on how often you’re pumping you may need to change pump parts. If you pump 3x/day replace duckville valves once a month and backflow protectors once every three months - but obviously adjust based on how often you pump.

You could try a nipple shield on the side that’s painful to see if that helps.

My nipples are in crisis at the moment but what has been helping is rubbing some milk onto it then letting it airdry before using nipple cream then putting it away

it's so horrible isn't it! Will try with the breast milk thank you

I’d also recommend getting some silver cups to wear between feeds. Not exaggerating these healed the worst of my nipple trauma overnight! You can also pop them in the freezer so they’re nice and cooling if your nipples are particularly painful sore and also putting some breast milk in the cup before wearing can also help with healing. Hope you recover quickly!

I also had terrible trouble with my left boob for the first few weeks, I used a manual pump for that boob to give it a break for 24 hours - after about 6 weeks things settled (he learnt and I did, what to do!) and I EBF from then til he was 13 months with no problems 🥰 defo save anything you pump maybe freeze it for later? Lansinoh nipple cream is really good. Both of it nipples were cut and bleeding but I carried on feeding and never pumped. It was agony sometimes but this cream helped the repair and also had latched checked by infant feeding team and tongue tie cut and it got easier and much less painful. How old is baby? We are almost at 5 months ebf now xx

You’re not alone! I felt awful when I didn’t have enough milk and cried when the nurse made me put on a ridiculous outfit and hooked me to a pump like a cow. It was humiliating and painful. I tried so hard that both my nipples cracked. Thankfully it’s all good now and baby has gained quite a lot of weight. Silverette is what saved me- the nursing cups work wonders!

I had a damaged nipple last week I started putting coconut oil on it, while also correcting the latch and it healed really quickly! I was told it would take 1-2 weeks but it only took 2 days!
It’s great for anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-fungal so helped a lot. You can bring it up with your care provider and see if that will help.
The faster you can get it healed the faster you can use it more and not lose your supply.
Hopefully it can help you!

For healing I also loved these! Pricey but only need to buy once. Put some breastmilk in them and pop on nipple in bra! Works a treat. I’m four months in and honestly it does get easier xx

I also struggled with nipple pain, latch issue and cried for days at the beginning but my girl turns 5 month next week and I’m happily breastfeeding 100% now🩷

What helped me:
I used this nipple shields when feeding hurts: https://a.co/d/0b0FeVP

It covered the nipple yet allowed my baby to suck - it taught her correct latch as well.

And I used this nipple butter when it hurts:

This butter is the BEST - it melts and heals your nipple so well!!

My nipple is so soft now and it’s like a rubber haha

Should I be concerned or am I overthinking?

My little boy is 15 months old, he’s recently taken his first steps and he says mamma and dadda and baba (he has said these for months) we’ve filled out the paperwork for his 12-14 month review and it looks like he isn’t meeting many of his milestones.

He doesn’t copy actions, point, clap etc. He doesn’t react when being spoken to, or to his name. He actively avoids eye contact.

He was so unresponsive to sound that we just had his hearing tested concerned he was deaf. They found that he could hear so he is just choosing not to react to any noises or sounds.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with their little ones? Should I be raising this with the health visitor and ask to be assessed for neurodivergent issue or a social communication problem like autism?

I don’t want to just slap a label on him, but I do feel that there are real concerns. All opinions welcome!!

Routines?

When did you start to introduce your baby’s routine? Do they just have a night routine or full day routine? Wondering when I should start this e.g naps at the same time everyday.

Any routines you have that work for you, please let me know them with timestamps. my baby is 6 weeks and just wondering when we should start them?

Does anyone else’s baby spit up breastmilk but not formula?

I’m seriously considering seeing a lactation consultant because I don’t understand why he can’t hold down breastmilk but can formula. I use soy formula since I’ve used it with my daughter and I’m thinking it might be due to not getting milk coming in for a few days so I had no choice but to give him formula, but now even if I take breaks in between feeding him breastmilk to burp or try to mix breastmilk and formula, he spits it up sooo much. I’m ready to just give him just formula because I’m worried about him not eating enough

Bed time tips for 8 week old

So I literally cannot get my 8 week down to sleep before 11:30pm every night no matter how early we start our routine. We tend to do bath every second night but every night consists of feed, up to bed, into pjs, book, feed to sleep. We could start this routine at 7 and it would still be the case of not selling til 11:30.

She doesn’t nap during the day well, we get a 30 minute in the morning, and a 1 hour in the afternoon only if I’m out the house. She’s never distressed when she’s awake all that time, quite the thing being nosey and having cuddles. She’s EBF and her feeds all through the day are LONG and last from 30-45 mins each feed.

Any tips/advice recommended on how to get to bed earlier or just how to get her to sleep in general.
