Do you have a midwife?

Hey, do you all have a midwife you can call and ask questions? I am 14 weeks pregnant and apart from my booking appointment, I haven’t had any midwife appointments. I was also not contacted by my midwife on the phone or was not giving a number i can call for any questions. I have a number which says to call once 16 weeks or over.

I see a lot of videos online where people talk about asking their midwife questions etc so I am confused.

Yes you should have had an appointment with your allocated midwife already - have you had your 12 week scan at the hospital?

Oh really? When was I supposed to have that? Yes, I had my 12 week scan and my next appointment is 16 week midwife appointment. I haven’t been booked for my 20 week scan yet as well.

Usually your first midwife appoint is called a booking appointment and is between 8-10 weeks

Thank you hun, I have already had my booking appointment, i am wondering if people have a way to contact their midwife and had any other appointments or phone conversations since their booking appointment

Your midwife should have given you their phone number/or a contact number. I’d call the maternity reception at the hospital, they should be able to help you x

Its a booking in appointment at around 8 weeks then nothing until 16 weeks but yes she did give me a number x

(Most) Midwifes don't actually give out a phone number now, as they aren't allowed, some nice ones will.
You should have booking appointments (usually 8 weeks) first scan (usually 12 weeks) and then your 16 week midwife appointment. Which they will explain your 20 week scan. Some areas don't book scans until 1/2 weeks prior (no good for us planning!) If it's your first you'll have a midwife appointment around 25 weeks. Then I think it's every 4-5 weeks after (depending if it's your first, or if they have any health concerns, also if they have health concerns you'll have scans at 32 and 36 weeks)
Your final appointments (34/36 week) will be discussing your birthplan :)

All information is on this site with more information. If you have any questions, you should be able to call the maternity triage number and they can help! :)

I have seen my midwife once at booking and I'm not due to see her until two weeks from now, I will be almost 17 weeks. I think if you are a low risk pregnancy with normal booking bloods, BMI etc you don't see them that much until after 20 weeks

Hospital bag (UK)

What did everyone pack for their section? I'm staying in for 3 days due to mental health, not really sure what I'll need to bring, feeling very nervous. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Pregnancy after c section

What time scale did everyone get pregnant again after a c section?
I know the doc said they recommend eating at least a year to 18 months but it took 4 years to get pregnant the first time after being told we could not conceive naturally so not wanting to stop it happening knowing it could take a very long time again but also worried.

Labour

Think im a bit confused really, i went into traige as was having contractions eveey 3-5mins. Since being here im now having them every 2-3mins which was confirmed with the machine and i think the toco was 90-100 and they feel painful and my lower back is in loads of pain but apparently im only just over 2cm dilated maybe, she has said i can stay here for a bit longer to see if things progress as had a previous quick birth as well but i dont understand why the pains are coming this quick if im only 2cm dilated and feel a bit deflated from it also.

I had a sweep this morning also.

Reduced movements

26 weeks and haven’t really felt little baby all day, she’s usually super active & I have a posterior placenta so I feel her all the time usually. I did feel her ever so briefly earlier right down into my pelvis. I was at maternity triage the other night with tummy cramps but everything was fine and so was baby. What should I do? I don’t want to feel like a nuisance?
