My 21 month old has recently started getting very frustrated when he can't do something. So today he was playing with a tricky stacking toy, couldn't line things up on the wooden pegs very easily and started screaming and throwing the pieces. He did similar screams when he was trying to draw with an etch a sketch not holding the pen the correct way. Then again with playdoh where he then started hitting himself in the face. Is this normal?! We praise him for trying, encourage him, recognise that it's difficult etc and basically try and and model calmness and persistence, or even saying let's take a break. Just a bit concerned that he's now started hitting himself when he's frustrated with a toy.

My little one throws whatever he is playing with on the floor, throughs himself of the floor, screams and hits us.
