There are reputable websites that give recommendations on the amount of food your toddler should eat.
Example:
• 3 regular meals and 2 – 3 planned snacks per day.
• Fruits & Vegetables – ½ cup fresh, frozen, or canned. 4 – 6 servings per day.
• Bread, cereal, rice, pasta – ½ slice or ¼ cup cooked or 1 egg, 2 servings per day.
• Meats 1 – 2 tablespoons, twice per day.
• Milk, yogurt – ½ cup; cheese – ½ oz., 3 – 4 servings per day.
Are people actually measuring amounts of food? I fill my daughter's plate and let her eat as much as she wants. She feeds herself and I've read babies/toddlers are good at knowing when they're full. But she definitely eats more than 1-2 tablespoons of meat at a time. Should I actually only be giving her that amount or is it okay to let her eat her fill? They are always balanced meals with a protein, grain, fruit/veg, dairy. I just dont measure.

No never

Nope, same as with breast or bottle feeding. I feed on demand and when he stops eating I know he is done. Only thing I do is make sure all 3 meals have a protein (egg, meat) a fruit, a vegetable and a cup of water. Snacks are anything from baby teething crackers to fruit to pasta. Anything quick and on hand

No. I put stuff in front of her and she eats until she doesn’t want any. I give a good variety.
One thing I like to do is go to Costco and give her the samples . Doing this o discovered she love beets. She eats them nearly every meal. No one else in the family eats or likes them and I probably would’ve never thought to buy them had it not been the Costco sample. She also loves the flagship cheese that we got as a sample and now we buy it .

Never measured, I just do 3 meals, 2 snacks, and then sometimes bites of whatever else if I’m eating something because of course I can’t eat anything in peace!
