My little boy was born on Tuesday and I said that I wanted to give breastfeeding a go. I did manage to successfully breast fees for every feed while in hospital but I couldn't seen to get the hang of it unless a midwife wyc was there supporting me. This made me worry as I didn't see how this would work when I got home, so I said I thought I should switch to formular. When I got home I was able to breast feed in one position (rugby ball) pump some and a few bottles of formular. But my little boy keeps vomiting when I breast feed now and it all just feels like a waste when that happens. He seems to be much better on formular. Now I just don't know what to do. I feel so guilty for stopping breastfeeding but I never intended to to it long term. But I just feel awful and I don't know why he keeps.being sick from breastfeeding.

He was only born on Tuesday š«¶š» give yourself some credit! Youāre doing great mama! You could call your health visitor for some advice! If you want to continue that is. With the vomiting is he being burped enough as we found this with our first we were getting some gas up but not all of it so he would spit up. Try sitting with him sat up for 30 minutes after the feedš©· congratulations on your baby boy!
Thank you. He's vomiting sometimes during feeding, so I'm not even getting the chance to sit him up afterwards. Didn't really know that was a think for breastfed babies.

Has your midwife gave you a number to ring? They will come out to look at your latch etc.
Perhaps ring the triage or midwife if you really want to stick at it?
Breastfeeding is so hard, ive breastfed two children now this is my 3rd 14 days old and its still hard. I combi feed and he has 2 formula bottles a day!
His latch isn't great and he clicks his mouth and grunts alot. He seems alot more settled on for.ula aswell. I think they don't have to work as hard on the bottle.
My boy is full of wind rather than sick.
I think you always question yourself.
Maybe burp him before he feeds, then try a more upright position to feed in if you can, again burp after a feed aswell.
But your baby is only a few days old so your milk will still be coming in. It could just be the belly getting used to more milk etc?
Constant guessing game. Please don't feel guilty though if you decide to stop BF.
A fed baby is a happy baby!
Pop me a msg if you want to have a chat. Xxx

Itās so hard, I nearly gave up as I got so sore so she still has a couple of bottles of formula a day to top up but sheās two weeks now and I promise you it does get easier! Have you seen a midwife or health visitor yet? If not thereās a number you can call in the red book. I have an appointment next week with a feeding specialist that my midwife booked as she struggles with latching with one of them. Just keep pumping so you donāt get too behind until you can get help.
Thereās lots of help available if you do want it but if you donāt then please donāt feel like a failure, fed is best š«¶

If you want to breastfeed then Iād say you should keep going and persevering. It does get easier as time goes on. This is my second time breastfeeding (I did it with my first for 11 months) and the first couple of weeks are hard work for both of you. If you donāt want to continue then there is absolutely no shame in stopping. A fed baby is a happy baby no matter how they are fed.
There are lots of breastfeeding help groups out there. Maybe try one of those before you stop?

I exclusively BF and I have problems with sick up after feeding little one. Iāve spoken to midwives about my concerns, but Iāve been reassured that nappy output (number of poos and wees), timings on the breast and weight gain all indicate that baby is feeding well.
Perhaps keep a record of how many poos/wees baby is having and then discuss with your midwife/health visitor? It can feel really overwhelming when after a feed, they spit up. I found it mentally challenging to begin with xx
