Overstimulated boy mum

My little boy is 2 years and 7 months. He is so sweet and funny but my god his energy levels are crazy! I know you're not supposed to entertain your kids 24/7 and it's okay for them to get bored. But I feel like if I don't plan things with my son and have activities planned when we're at home he just wants to climb on furniture, run around and make a mess. He will play with his toys but jumps from one toy to the next very quickly. I prefer to take him on days out rather than stay at home because I just become so overwhelmed by the noise and mess. Our house is also quite small so gets cluttered very quickly. I try to clean some of the toys up he's not playing with throughout the day so there's not loads out, but it just looks like a bomb has gone off again within an hour of tidying. Boy mums, please tell me I'm not alone and your boys are also feral 😂🫠

Omg yes. My son is a lot. He’ll be 2 and half next month. He gets bored so easily. He’s not interested in his toys anymore. I sort of just have him follow me around while I do chores and see if he can help me lol we used to go out a lot more but we are tight on money lately.

Girl, same. My son is the same age too. I find that when he has trampoline time (he has a small one that his ped okayed) and I’ll put on the chacha slide and he loves dancing to it. Or just dancing to music in general. It’s a good energy release.

However, my house is still tornado central. 🤣

My youngest will sit and play with toys longer than my 3 year old but still they make huge messes in about 5 mintues of them being up in the morning it can be alot🫠🤦🏽‍♀️ my 3 year old want to climb everything we did get a nugget couch and a pikler triangle set and it does help for days we cant go outside or we are staying home!

Yeah, we spend a lot of time outside... Mine took off his pants and underwear 6 times in a row before I put him back in a diaper yesterday. However, this is an improvement from 2 weeks ago when he would also take off his shirt. And don't get me started on his eating. Feral describes it all perfectly...

Your definitely not alone mine turned 2 in February, I feel guilty for not doing activities with him like painting etc, but he’s the same never still unless he’s watching some tele and is really interested in what’s on, he loves his toys and books so will play with them. He’s not quite at the stage of colouring in, but knows how to scribble. I try to rotate his toys every few weeks so he doesn’t get as bored x

My daughter is like this lol her dad and I both have pretty gnarly ADHD so I'm sure she also has ADHD. I've had to teach her how to be bored. Outside is the best way for me to get her energy out without going insane myself. We also got a puppy recently that's been matching her energy and given her something to interact with when I can't. We talk about how her job is to play and learn and my job is to make sure she can do that and be safe and fed. I found giving her activities that are open ended instead of structured are best. High energy kids are wild lol I feel for you!

Also I follow the Busy Toddler on Instagram and have used a lot of her ideas for activities.

I can relate even with an under 2 boy. We are always out, it is easier something about fresh air helps and seeing all the vehicles on the road is his happy place

Toddlers

How often are your toddlers asking for food? My oldest who is 3 just finished a whole plate of food and not even 10 minutes later he’s requesting more food. I know he’s going through a growth spurt, but how do you respond to this.

Is this normal?

Is it just my husband that does this? He is able to work from home via his computer and in the mornings and evenings he is on there doing his job. When he is done for the day he tends to stay in the room and either play video games or watch something. He will occasionally come out and play with the girls for a few minutes and that’s it but when I really need him he says he is busy. My daughters are both 1 year old now and I am just wondering how much involvement should he have with them now?
Idk if this is the norm or not…..

Saying NO to buying toys etc

5 year old is getting really envious of others. He is obsessed with items that other kids have at school. I am pestered daily to buy these things in a different style when we already have 3 others. I have seen parents just buying stuff their kid likes which I don't necessarily agree with even when i can afford it. How do you deal with it?

Identity crisis?

Am I the only sahm who feels like they have lost their identity??? I don’t make money for my family, when I used to make great money. But I refuse to drop my under a year old baby off with strangers.
My husband works so much. But I have no control over bringing in money and I’m a control freak type of person! I feel l like I’m losing my grip because we are kind of broke, but day care would only eat up my income anyways! So what’s the point. I’m a workaholic and now I’m just a twitching bum.
I wish I could work from home but so far that’s a fake dream. I’m almost 9 months pp, and I just need to know these awful mood swings and depression will end soon! Send wine!
