I have a nearly 9 month old lg, who’s sleep has been awful since 4 months- I had tried what felt like every other method of trying to help her sleep without letting her cry but nothing worked or helped, so against my own head I decided to try a gentler Ferber method which has gone really well so far!
However I can’t seem to find a straight answer to the question- Do I restart the timer when my baby stops crying and restarts crying or do I continue with the check in?
I’m on day 4 of this method now and have had 3 nearly full nights sleep.
Before I tried the pickup put down method and she cried significantly more doing this method than what I have been doing now- she falls asleep within 5 minutes.

I did a similar method and if there was more than 10s of silence then I would reset the timer and restart it if they started crying again

If your baby is calm and you are happy to stay out, I wouldn’t adopt a check in. But if you want to, and it doesn’t hinder progress, then go for it 👍 check ins can sometimes make baby cry more, especially if they have calmed themselves.
