I’m a swede living in US and thinking about baby girl names- and poss a Swedish one: how is Ylva for you native English speakers? Pronounced more like eeul-wa. Honest opinion please lol😬 It’s hard to not hear it in Swedish for me🙈

Grateful for any comments, votes and second opinions or suggestions😊

I think the name is gorgeous but without you saying how to pronounce it I know full well I would’ve absolutely butchered that!

Visually it reminds me of the word vulva, I have to say.

My stupid brain tried to say it how its spelled... something along the line of: yeh-l-va. 🤣🤣🤣🤷🏼‍♀️ no idea lmao.

My first instinct on how to pronounce it would probably be ill-vuh. I think it just depends on whether you’re okay with explaining the pronunciation to people!

@GMF yep I thought that 😂

I think we'd definitely pronounce the v rather than w sound in English, without being told. Maybe, Ylva = You'll-vah

My brain went y-capital i-va first so like y-eve-a. Then when I realised it was an L it didn’t quite change so went y-leave-a. It’s looks beautiful I just have no idea how it would be pronounced

I’d pronounce it Yill like (Jill) and Va like (Alva)
