What was your first meal after giving birth?

The hospital gave me a croissant turkey sandwich and to this day it's still the best thing I've ever had

A twister ice lolly after having gestational diabetes was heaven!!!

Avatar

I had sushi, my husband knew I wanted that my whole pregnancy 🤣

Avatar

A roast beef sandwich, it was so good!

Avatar

I think it was sushi? With my first I just wanted a turkey sandwich but with my son (my youngest) my husband brought me sushi.

Avatar

I swear it was a ham and Swiss sandwich in ordered and I ordered them everyday for lunch and sometimes dinner

Avatar

The chocolate cake that hospital provided was truly top notch. One of the best I ever had.

Avatar

With my 1st it was a grape popsicle and it was the best thing EVER! I hadn’t eaten in like 10 hours and after C-section they still wanted me to wait or have ice chips and a nurse brought the popsicle saying it was flavored ice chips ā™„ļø

Avatar

We ordered pizza! 🄰

Avatar

Cheese omelet and bacon since it was about 10am

With my son I really wanted a pancake and I was starving and the one I got was so pitiful and small 😩

Avatar

My husband got me sushi

Avatar

I schedule my csections for Mondays because it is enchilada night, and that is the only edible thing our local hospital makes

Avatar

Tea and toast with loads of butter šŸ˜…it was like midnight by the time I was stitched up and showered and ready

Avatar

The midwife made me toast with butter and omg I've never enjoyed anything so much before in my life šŸ˜‚

Avatar

My husband got me a chicken burger and fries.

Avatar

Pastrami bagels I’d been desperate for them for weeks

Avatar

My husband made me a seafood boil. I woke up 3 days after having my baby and he made it and brought it up to the hospital for me

Avatar

Croissant turkey sandwich sounds amazing wow.
First meal after birth..? I honestly don’t remember like any of them
For any of my births

Avatar

Jam on toast at the hospital and it was amazing šŸ˜‚

Avatar

I wanted a great big platter of sushi, but I gave birth at around 10 AM, so my first meal was a turkey sub and it was the greatest thing I ever had, after abstaining from deli meat for 9 months!

Avatar

Mango popsicle, clear soup. Couldn't keep anything down for 2 days after CS.

Avatar

Spinach artichoke soufflĆ© from Panera. And a chai latte! Now their chia latte has no taste and they took that soufflĆ© off the menu. But it was šŸ’Æ

Avatar

I gave birth around 10 PM so the next day my husband went and got me sushi! Ate half of it and he stuck in the fridge and the staff threw it away 😭

Avatar

I couldn’t keep down 90% of my favourites (almost none of the healthy stuff besides sometimes some seafood & fruit) for the entire 41 weeks before he came & so I was dying for greens so I had mustard & chrysanthemum 🌿 (it’s funny bc 3 weeks into introducing solids leafy veg is the only thing my son will consistently eat 🤣) but I was projectile vomiting constantly during 90% of labour so I couldn’t even look at food until a couple days later .. I think I had pumpkin the first day I ate also bc had missed starches so much bc potato had had me throwing up if I even stood close by (the irony given my home country we eat more potato than anyone by absurd amounts šŸ˜)

Avatar

I saw toast and immediately wondered if you were in the UK šŸ˜‚ I’ve heard about all the toast iterations so many times

Avatar

My girls were both born in the morning so I had breakfast. I’m pretty sure it was French toast and sausage after both.

Avatar

IHOP. It's my guilty pleasure

Avatar

I never got the tea and toast (UK) I was so upset I'd heard so much about it so my hubby got me McDonald's instead 🤣

Avatar

I got tea and toast, the toast was decent actually. Good quality bread and butter. I had to stay in for 5 days after that and the food wasn't amazing, so McDonald's on the way home from the hospital is what I count as my first meal

Avatar

Not her first meal but my friend always jokes about this chicken pie she ate 3 days after having her first. She said she she cried into this pie because it was the best pie ever šŸ˜‚

Avatar

The hospital meal haha, but then next day my husband got me sushi lol

Avatar

he sounds like a keeper. That so sweet!

Avatar

he is. That whole pregnancy i couldn't eat anything so it felt good to be able to eat again and have my favorite meal at that

Avatar

Costa BLT sandwich. First thing in 9 months I managed to keep down without being sick…heavenly!

Avatar

2 slice of brown toast and redbull

Avatar

A peanut butter and jelly sandwich. My daughter was born in the middle of the night.

Avatar

Once I was off the liquid diet, I had McDonald’s with my first. I pretty much had no appetite after my second, but I think it was Chick-fil-A.

Post partum dad

I have a 2 month old. A few weeks ago my husband crashed out because he didn't feel like he was getting to bond with her. I started exclusively breastfeeding around that time and honestly didnt see the big deal. Baby and I left for a few days and when we got back home, everything was fine. He was extremely hands-on. He helped with my meals, her bedtime, bath, stories.....for a few weeks it was great. Then he randomly sounds depressed af. He says our lo is better off without him, he wants to sleep all day , he asks me not to watch tv then tried playing a video game. He refused to reply to me when i asked any follow-up questions. Then he woke up our baby trying to race me to the bathroom first thing in the morning . He's doing a weird mix of crying, trying, and giving up. Im starting to feel like I cant handle him not being able to handle life with baby and just want to be alone. Are there resources for men?

My friend is over from another country but I don't feel like leaving the house

One of my old friend's is visiting where I currently live and we agreed to meet up today but I feel so tired and exhausted from everything that's been going on with me. I feel if I meet her I'm going to end up having another breakdown from the exhaustion which I have been having often. I'm just thinking about how I need to rest to be able to deal with my toddler and go back to work on Monday without feeling like I need another weekend. I'm torn on what to do so I need you guys to help me decide

Is it bad of me to think this or no?

My husband has been abroad for work (1 day and exploring for 1 day) for 2 and a half days which means I’ve had both kids (1 year and 4 year old) for 2 and a half days plus cooking, cleaning, taking them to clubs, bedtimes!
He came home late afternoon and said I’m so tired, I just need to chill. I said can you wash up whilst I sort kids dinner out, he said he’ll do it later which means he won’t do it and I’ll end up doing it so I said no do it now please otherwise I’ll end up doing it and he said well you have been home and I’ve been away so you’ve just been relaxing.
Don’t know what planet he is on but having the kids alone for 2.5 days is not relaxing. I was stressed!

When he was away, I did miss him and wanted him to come back but now he’s back, I want him to go away againšŸ˜‚
Is that bad?

Weaning

Hello mamas, could I get some advice please with how and what to wean as started this week with my baby but not really what to give and when what time day. Have started with puree vegetables and making them myself and offering it in the evening to my baby but she tends to get irritated and tired and has a few spoonfulls and then gives up and has a meltdown. So I’m questioning myself am I feeding her wrong time of day and what’s best to mix the food with milk or baby rice please.

People telling you your baby is hungry..

I know people don’t always mean it in a bad way and are trying to relate, but when people say my baby is hungry when chewing his hands. I feed him regularly. He eats pretty much every 2 hours. He isn’t hungry, he just loves chewing and exploring his hands. Or they say something about teething, which it is also not, as he isn’t unsettled with it. I have looked into it myself and can be common and neither of those things! He has done it most of the day since 2 months old.
