I’ve been on maternity leave since October last year, and my SMP just ended (last payment was 3rd July). My original role was moved to London, and they offered me a different position — but it was a downgrade and didn’t accept my request for remote working. I had hoped to return to something more flexible, so I decided to take redundancy instead.
I’ve got 3 months’ notice, but HR said they’ll contact me at the end of September (when my maternity officially ends). I’m just wondering — should I ask them to give me notice now, while I’m still on leave? That way they can’t make me work it, and I’d probably get it all as PILON (pay in lieu of notice), plus any holiday and statutory redundancy pay.
Really don’t want to return to work just to work my notice, especially with a little one.

They would put you on gardeners leave anyway more than likely ( you dont need to work but your official leave date is after your notice ) .. I was made redundant a few years ago in December and they didnt make me go back after christmas even though my leave date wasnt until Feb x
