I know 6 months is to do with their gut and that being upright stops choking hazards but I’m getting mixed messages as to whether they have to sit unaided

I've been advised that being able to sit unassisted is one of the criteria for weaning. Especially with baby led weaning as I think it means there is less likelihood of choking.

I've read that baby should be sitting with minimal support - so only the straps of a highchair

So long as they can sit in their high chair without slouching. Some babies don’t sit unaided until around 7 months x
