So, my husband and I had a discussion. The topic being one we have talked about multiple times; he has gotten to the point where he doesn’t really care for quality time together making me crave to have a comforting and close connection with someone. I explained how I felt and my needs of just wanting someone to do different activities with (platonically) like sleepovers, movie/game nights, thrifting, etc.. But in a more platonic affectionate manner like hugs, holding hands, cuddling, or simply offering a comforting/supportive presence. He told me he didn’t care as long as it’s a girl cause that would mean I wouldn’t bother him during gaming or his time and I would have someone there not only for myself but they would have me there for them too. All my closest friends live their own life with their kids, outta state, or the party life since they don’t have kids so this leaves me with no one to really do those things with anymore since I am a SAHM with two toddlers.
I’m just at the point where I crave non-romantic physical touch, emotional support, and closeness with someone since it seems that aspect is lacking in my life. I was a very closed off and lacked being an affectionate person, so experiencing a once romantic close bond with my husband had gotten me out of shell of closing people off and not showing any type of affection (romantic or platonic) allowing me to welcome be more comfortable with affection as simple as a hug or “I love you” from people. Don’t get me wrong I love my husband to pieces but he has made it clear he doesn’t care much for affection or comfort anymore, we still have the romantic or passionate connection though. So my question is should I try to find a companion or does it just seem weird that I want a platonically affectionate companion? I am not sure how I would even go about it.. Has anyone else ever experienced this, if so how did you go about it?

So it can only be another women not man ?

I find that odd that he doesn’t care for the affection. That’s a really big thing in a marriage or relationship for me personally.
Yes, we are both loyal through and through but he does have a pet peeve if a guy shows an open interest that is more than friends even if I don’t see it (a bit possessive) He doesn’t care for guys looking at me or anything he even jokes about it just as I don’t care if girls look at him. I really don’t care for him having close friends that are girls as long as it’s clearly platonic with boundaries and no red flags like deleted messages and stuff. But he’s iffy about stuff concerning opposite sex friendships due to past negative experiences with Exes. I respect his preference though and can understand why he’s not comfortable with another male presence.

yes!! Spending time together is how you build a relationship

There is so much pressure in marriage to be literally everything to your spouse. If you both are honest about your needs and are open to this alternative, I don’t see an issue. I do wonder if opening the door for platonic emotional connection in this way could lead to developing romantic feelings outside the marriage. May not be a bad thing if you and your spouse are open to it. Communication is going to be key.

It's odd that he doesn't want to spend quality time together anymore. There has to be more that's not being said. I think I would explore the motive more.
On the other hand it sounds like you're asking if it's weird to want more friends, which no one in life would find that strange. So bc you feel like you need permission to follow through, you may want to explore your own motive as well
