I was in a 14-year marriage, and towards the end it became really difficult. By the time it ended, my ex and I no longer loved each other or even thought much of one another.
About six months after the marriage ended, I met my current partner. They’re very committed, but I find myself feeling scared—because I never thought my marriage would actually end, and now I worry about the future.
Has anyone else met a significant partner soon after a breakup, fallen hard, and had it last?

Both my mom's parents got with their new spouses immediately after divorce (I believe they cheated on each other) but anyway, they both remained married. My grandfather passed away and was married 40+ years to his 2nd wife. My Mom's mom is still married to her 2nd husband, so over 40 years too. I don't know how either felt as I only met them a few times as a kid but clearly they both had more success with their second marriages than they did the first go around!

I'm now in year 4 of relationship after 8 year marriage/14 years together. We met about a year after the separation but only 6ish months after I'd moved out. For me I was married young and in the first relationship very early on in life so we grew up and grew apart. I felt by time I met my now partner I more knew what I wanted and had time to be me. We see it being forever but if it isn't then we'll also manage and focus on the children! I didnt have children with my ex which obviously made the separation easier.
