I used up my life savings to stay home with my son. I timed it so I’d have enough to start him in June and take a much needed “break”, then start back working late August after my bday. (Im villageless no mom sister friend nothing, and I EBF my baby until 22m so it was me every minute of everyday. Never even a 3hr lunch break, haven’t been to a movie since 2022 AWFUL.) since my son started June 9 he has been sick SIX times. That’s every 2 weeks. I have to go back to work, I got a job and I start Thursday. Of course he woke up sick again today(cough, runny nose, no fever) . What do people do? Keep them home a day then send the? Send if there’s no fever? I don’t want to get people sick but as a single mom I don’t want to get evicted more! His tuition is 2400 a month plus my rent and bills. So it hurts to miss a day.

If we kept our children at home every time they had a cold they'd never attend. As long as there's no fever and he seems well enough then id send him in anyway.

Most people send if there’s no fever. A fever really indicates illness a clear runny nose can be anything from allergies to a mild cold. Toddlers cough a lot and it’s not always illness. It’s annoying because they get sick a lot starting by daycare but they’ll stop getting sick soon after building up immunity. I’d say if he’s got a weird rash along with other symptoms or definitely if he has a fever stay home or go to the dr. If it’s just a clear runny nose and a mild cough then it’s probably ok to send to daycare.

Send if there's no fever, vomiting or loose stools.

It’s totally normal unfortunately . You probably have to send of no fever as come winter the runny nose in the first winter will be non stop x

Send him if he has no fever, but it is good to start sorting out back-up childcare. Either find someone you can call short notice or find an agency that does this. Some companies offer it as a benefit.

For coughing and a runny nose, I send her if there is no fever because those illnesses that come on with a fever are worse and require more time off.
Thank you ladies! I feel so much better. Obviously I’ll keep him if he’s down bad but there been so many back to back lil colds that I just can’t afford! I’m always nervous I look bad sending him in with his nose running but it really started and never stopped lol

I ran at at home daycare and use to allow children enrolled in a school setting daycare to come to me for a day for a low rate. so mom could still work. As a single mom Ik how hard it is, maybe someone in your area does it as well? Or has an in home daycare and they don’t turn away sick children
