I’ve got my 16 week appointment next week and was wondering if you get to listen to babies heartbeat at this one?

I went for my midwife’s appointment this morning and she was explaining to me they’ve stopped listening to baby’s heartbeats at 16 weeks they only listen when your about 28 weeks along because it can be so hard to find with the Doppler before then I hope this helps x

Yeah, same as Imogen for me. But the midwife saw how disappointed I was and said "but I can still do it!" 😂 It actually was really hard to find the heartbeat this time, but she said the baby seemed to be in an odd position and moving around. I'm really happy I got to hear it still 😊

How strange, I had my appointment last week at 15 + 6 and the midwife checked the heartbeat no problem, the same as my last pregnancy 5 years ago 🤔

Unless it’s different depending on areas I’m from Wigan so maybe the rules are different in different areas I’m not sure x

I had to ask her to do it and she was like please be prepared I might not be able to find it. NHS fife (Scotland) she did manage though thank god I was worried 🙌

Ours checked the heartbeat 💗

It depends on your hospital, I heard it in both my pregnancies but when I made a post many people commented saying they didn’t get offered it

Yes I had mine last week and she did it, she did mention that as it’s quite early it’s sometimes a bit hard to find the heartbeat

I had mine today , I’m 18 weeks and got to listen to baby girls heartbeat, got asked if we wanted to listen

My trust still listen to heartbeats at 16 weeks

@Imogen im from the wigan borough and I had my 16 wk apt at 15 wks and my midwife listened to the baby. She asked me if I wanted to hear it. I was like sure and she found it quite easy. Which I was surprised about

Avatar

I heard mine at 16w :) based in Manchester

Yeah, my midwife mentioned that it always used to be standard practice, so in my previous pregnancies they did it with no question. But she said they've changed it recently. So maybe it's still area by area, but I guess it'll be the same everywhere in the end

My midwife told me it depends on the hospital. She did listen to mine but she told me that most won’t do it because it can be really tricky to find at this stage. Thankfully she found it right away, I was very nervous🙏🏼

I had my 16 week appointment and didn’t get to hear babies heartbeat, I think in most areas they have stopped doing this now as it’s harder to find babies heartbeat with the Doppler

I got to hear my baby’s heart beat, had my 16/17 week appointment on Monday x

Reduced Movements

Has anyone else gone in for monitoring for reduced movements and as soon as you arrive at triage the baby starts moving and the CTG is normal? It makes me feel like I am over reacting.

Newborn stage

Is anyone tired of doing the same thing everyday and being on a 2-3 hour schedule? It’s the same everyday and I feel like I’m losing my mind. It’s making me depressed even if I get out once a day. When does it get better? I feel like I’m just waiting for the next stage where it’s not just sitting around all day.

Labour

Think im a bit confused really, i went into traige as was having contractions eveey 3-5mins. Since being here im now having them every 2-3mins which was confirmed with the machine and i think the toco was 90-100 and they feel painful and my lower back is in loads of pain but apparently im only just over 2cm dilated maybe, she has said i can stay here for a bit longer to see if things progress as had a previous quick birth as well but i dont understand why the pains are coming this quick if im only 2cm dilated and feel a bit deflated from it also.

I had a sweep this morning also.

Pregnancy after c section

What time scale did everyone get pregnant again after a c section?
I know the doc said they recommend eating at least a year to 18 months but it took 4 years to get pregnant the first time after being told we could not conceive naturally so not wanting to stop it happening knowing it could take a very long time again but also worried.

Hospital bag (UK)

What did everyone pack for their section? I'm staying in for 3 days due to mental health, not really sure what I'll need to bring, feeling very nervous. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
