I am seriously struggling y’all. I love kids…I seriously do. I work with kids, I volunteer at the school in the classroom, I volunteer as a proctor for recess not just my own child’s but all grades, I volunteer for school events and fundraisers, the innocence and even bit of sass I just love. I have a teenage step child I pick up/drop off for school every day, I go in person and meet with counselor I arrange her friends to come over and pick them up etc you get it I’m involved and I LOVE it! BUT I have another step child. I have never found myself to be so annoyed by a child before. This sounds so harsh but I have to be honest. This child is 4 just like my child. They learned from the other parent how to constantly get away with things with crying and lying. We have cameras inside and out of our home where we constantly catch the child provoking a fight with my child and then when mines had enough and pushes them away or hits them even said child comes crying saying they were hit for no reason. Coloring all over a table. Squeezing and kicking our cat. I was told the child was potty trained fully day and night for the past year and I hate to compare kids but this child wets the bed several times a month and pees on the bathroom floor daily. The fake cry and literally smiles when they realize it worked, instant whine when they believe they’ve been caught, constant lying about everything is so out of my league I just don’t even know what to do anymore. My child is not perfect the teenager is not perfect. The poor decision making is to be expected occasionally but not allllllll day long it’s absolutely exhausting. It’s almost as though they get a thrill at creating drama just to see if they can get away with it which in truth sounds just like Childs mom but any tips or tricks for those that are step parents. Sorry for my rant just trying to make this as clear as possible.

Do step kids have the same mom?
What about therapy? I mean 4 is a tender age. It could be a good time to intervene and change the path they are on before they get old enough for it to ruin there life. I have a 4 year old who sometimes pees the bed. They are only 4. It happens. And she goes to school and acts amazing then gets home and some days she’s frustrated and tired and overwhelmed and grumpy. She will lie about things sometimes and we have to set clear boundaries. And explain how it’s not okay. But she isn’t a bad person she is learning life. We actually are setting her up with a therapist ourselves. It never hurts to give them as much advantages as possible in being good humans.
