I was a sahm since my daughter was born in January and just recently returned to work Sept. 2nd. I found a daycare that I really liked. I know that my daughter has been having a hard time adjusting to taking naps in a noisy environment. When I picked her up, the provider told me that my daughter hadn’t napped, that she needs to be carried all the time- doesn’t want to be put down, and that she’s impeding her from being able to get anything done. She also mentioned how her assistant has been having to stay past her contracted hours until I came to pick up my daughter because the provider couldn’t do what she had too if my daughter was still there, being needy. And she said that I should start looking for another daycare. I pay this lady $300 weekly and she told me that she CHOOSES to only have infants.. what was she expecting from an infant that 1. Is an only child and 2. Has never been to daycare before ..? And there’s only 3 children there, total! 😵💫Now I’ve been picking up my daughter 2 hours earlier and this weekend, I’m touring other daycares but I’m so nervous 😩😩 I don’t want other daycares to feel the same way about my daughter and be frustrated by her.

Nothing to say but our babies need human contact very normal and glad you are getting her out of there ❤️

Be glad she at least told you. Now you can find your daughter the care she deserves.

Aww your daughter deserves a better daycare anyways

as a former daycare worker that freelanced at daycares all over a 40 mile span myself, and I say this with zero judgement, no matter how expensive, or highly rated, or as much as the teachers want to be able to give each and every child special attention and everything they need it simply won’t happen. when there’s multiple children, and things needing to be done to keep the business going in a specific timeframe so that they aren’t working overtime, and theres a child who absolutely can’t be set down/ only will contact nap it very much does impede how well the daycare is able to run and also the quality of care the other children are receiving. it’s nobody’s fault and the caregiver shouldn’t ever make you feel bad about bc it’s normal for babies but realistically her options were to either bring on staff so there is always two people which in turn would raise prices, or do what she did which was say i’m sorry this isn’t a fit.

i’m sorry this is so hard to figure out, please remember at 300/week if she’s full time that means you’re only paying her 7.50/hr which is basically minimum wage. it really is just unfortunate circumstances. my suggestion is find a daycare that always has two people in the room, or at one where most babies are picked up earlier this is hard to come by though or may not be an option at all but ask around, ask how they handle it when this situation happens so you know what to expect if she doesn’t adjust. if she doesn’t adjust at the next spot your best option if you can is to hire a nanny who can give your baby the one on one attention she needs. I feel for the women in this country we deserve a better system for childcare

Honestly, 300 a week is the lower end price range for an infant in many (U.S). states. I had to work at my son's daycare to get a 50% discount which reduced the infant price down to 250-300 a week range. The infant stage is the premium prices. If I were in your shoes, I would not take the criticism personally... I would understand that I need to prepare my child for daycare by doing things-- differently at home... in order to make the transition go smoothly.

IMO that means they can’t do their job properly you should be happy to find somewhere else more suited it’s only up from there x

I don’t trust daycares with my son or any future children. I’m my son’s daycare 24/7, I never liked the idea of putting him into one as much as I wanna go back to work don’t trust them and that half of my pay check paying those day care…. And mentioning that it’s 300????? That’s crazy as hell. But I wish the best in a new day care for ya

Tell them upfront about her behavior. look u are paying these people that are “professional” I have a nanny who comes to my home and before I hire I tell them this is what I expect if u can’t pls let me know so I am not being disturbed while doing my errands and I’ve never had someone have a problem my small one is a little cry baby and I have two kids

Agree that it might be a blessing in disguise. You wouldn’t want your daughter somewhere where they feel she’s a burden. Not all nurseries or daycares are the same so definitely see what else is out there xx

That sounds like a red flag of an impatient care giver. I hope you have good luck in finding another facility, it seems to truly be what’s best for your daughter.

My baby does not cry, nor whine. She is a happy baby 90% of the time and the provider admitted that. If she just said that my daughter requires a lot of attention and it’s too much for her, then maybe I would’ve understood better but she was telling me how her assistant is only supposed to be there till 3pm because that’s the time they had agreed on and when my daughter is there until 4:30 (when they close at 5), that she has to pay her for the extra time. Whatever agreement and pay schedule she has with her staff is not my problem and is none of my business. So I’ve been picking my daughter up at 2:30 so that her assistant can clean before she leaves.. while the other 2 children (8 months and 1 year old) remain there until closing.

Also when I make under 40k in NYC, $300 weekly is ALOT for me. She was the most expensive daycare that I had visited (I visited 4) and I still chose her because I liked it.

There's two workers in the same room and they have 3 infants total and they can't handle it? Wtf. That just sounds....nuts on the provider's part.
