My 4 month old is really difficult to put down for a daytime nap. I'm finding that I'm starting to dread planning anything because trying to work around her is so difficult. She will get overtired and scream. I missed a sing-a-long for kids this morning because she hadn't napped for example. And tomorrow I'm supposed to go to a friend's bbq where other friends will be and I don't really want to go. Non of my friends are parents and I will just be sitting there trying to get her to nap before she gets overtired and screams. Which will basically be impossible with all the sensory input at a gathering like that. I just feel shut out of life at the moment. Like the naps are all consuming. Today was a bad day. She was awake for over 4 hours before she slept and she was a wreck. I purposely try to go out somewhere everyday but lately I feel like I would be better off just at home with her crying in private.

You probably already tried this, but a carrier has been a lifesaver for me. The lo feels safe in it and naps much better in it than not. She drops to sleep with 5-10 minutes of being in it and stays asleep for 45min to 2 hours. I like to take her for a walk in it, adding the benefit of fresh air while at it, and the rocking helps put her to sleep.

Yeah I kinda feel like this when mine fights his naps but for the most part he sleeps a lot better since we put him down in his crib. We look for tired ques and use the huckleberry app which works out “sweet spots” for naps. If you’re going to a bbq just think the fresh air will likely tire her out! Xx

I was exactly in the same boat as you when my LO was 4 months. She was resisting sleep so much during the day, and I also avoided going to classes and seeing people over a nap because she was such a FOMO baby, so would skip naps. It was so stressful. This was the age when I started speaking to a sleep consultant because I didn't know what else to do. Not sure if you do this already but for her shorter naps, take her for a walk in the buggy and thr motion should help her sleep. I did 1 hour walks for 1 of her naps, then 1 was contact nap and her long one I would always try in her cot x

4 months fussy stage. They’re more aware of their surroundings at this age. I used to have to sit in a dark and quiet room just to get my eldest to sleep. My second is that hard to the noise of her toddler brother it wasn’t too bad with her!
