Working Mummas - Mum Guilt

I dont know if ive made the right choice. I planned before having a baby to go back to full time work (my brain needs it) and I did a phased return to work starting from when little one was 7 months old - starting 2 days, then 3, then 4 - I started back full time 1st Aug and its HARD. She's in nursery Mon - Thu 8am-6pm, i dont see her, all but an hour- 2 hrs in the evening if im lucky and that's it. We decided to keep her at home on Fridays so we could be with her, but we're both full time so dealing with calls and work etc with a toddler is hard, and she deserves our full attention. It just seems like all other mums return part time, have I made the wrong choice? I feel awful. All the time. I miss her ridiculously, but then she's also so hard at the moment with teething and sleep regression etc. I just dont know if im coming or going tbh. Mainly looking for some feedback from other professional mummas out there, how are you handling it?
As a side note, im 99% sure im going to ask for flexible working to atleast have Fridays off, not sure when that'll kick in though.

It's hard! I have a 2.5 year old and a 1 year old and the guilt doesn't get any easier I'm afraid!

I think being there for your baby as much as you can afford to is the best thing x ❤️

Part time- but I'm financially stable but choose to work part time 18.5 hours, as I need to work as its just how I am (flexi time plus 1 day a week from home if wanted) If you need to work full time, make the most of the time you're not working such as weekends. Fill with fun memories and days out, weekends away, etc.

I honestly broke down going back to work!
I had originally planned to not return until mid August this year and go back at 3 days a week rather than 4/5 days
And i ended up having to go back in may and when I left the little one I broke down into tears in the car, for about a month every time I left him I’d just cry, literally had to set aside extra time in the morning to cry in my car before going into work.
Spoke with my manager and cut myself down to 2 days a week an it has been a bit better. I don’t cry anymore leaving him but I feel hella guilty every time, it feels wrong being away from them.
I feel it’s really hard for me as well in the sense that I leave my child to then go look after other people’s children (work in a private nursery) so I feel guilty that I’m having all my energy be taken up by other babies that by the time I get home at night I have no energy for him

It’s been hard. I wfm full time and it kills me not being with her 24/7 my husband is with her tho and I check on her every break and during my lunch. Today was really hard cause she cried when it was time for me to return to work. I only started work cause I have arthritis and it was getting so hard on me to watch her without any help so now I work Mon-fri and my husband works Friday nights to Monday morning. This schedule works way better for both of us since now my husband isn’t over worked but it was a hard transition. I only recently went back about 2 months ago

I went back full time with my first baby. This time round, I’m doing full time hours but condensed Mon-Thur with Fri off. She’s still in nursery on Fridays for a few weeks as I’m doing a 12 week trial of the condensed hours.
I feel sure I’ve done the right thing. I really need the stimulation and challenge of work and regular adult conversation that isn’t just baby talk. It takes a while to adjust as you definitely feel torn initially but once you get into a rhythm, it’s great!

Im back on phased return, but I work from home. In the day I schedule my calls as close together as possible then do the admin in the evening after kids are in bed, that way I can pick them up 1-2 or 3pm and still spend a little time with them before bed 6pm, otherwise i literally wouldnt see them.
If I didn’t have this job, I think I would return either part time or work opposite my husband so at least one of us is with the kids. They’re only this little for a few years, I’d rather live more modestly now and slowed as much time with them as I can afford to.

I went back fulltime when baby was 9 months. I got a new job so “phased return” wasnt an option and I just didnt want part time because I actually wanted to go back to work. Being at home made me crazy 🤣 Its been 4 months now and Im ready to do part time. Its too much. We don’t qualify for funded hours for nursery nor can we afford it. So right now we manage between us and our grandparents. Its a mission though. I get home 6.30pm after work and then because of rush hour traffic, a 20 min journey to pick up my daughter turns to 50 mins and then same on the way home. By the time I get home, its 9pm. Put her to bed, maybe have dinner. Then repeat the next day. Mon/Fri I wfh with her and its impossible to work at all. So we are considering getting a nanny for Mon/Fri

Has anyone else had issues with their friends that aren't pregnant or have kids?

I have a friend at work and we've become really close over the years. But ever since I become pregnant she just doesn't understand anything I'm going through which is fine except for the fact that the past few days I have been exhausted physically and socially. We have been helping another friend out for about a month now and we've had to keep him entertained as he's going through a rough time right now and it's drained me socially . my friend at work is frustrated because I'm not talking a lot and I'm exhausted and she doesn't understand why and I'm just curious if anybody else has had issues with friends that are not going to the same thing or have gone through the same thing as you connecting with you because she's literally mad at me. She stopped talking to me at work today and I just don't understand what to do.

STD rates and body count

Saw an interesting video and I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this topic!

So std rates are at an all time high as we all know. Do you think the mindset that body count doesn’t matter has contributed to the significant increase of STDs and HIV?

Secondly if someone says that body count doesn’t matter do you believe they are less likely to practice safe sex compared to people who believe in more traditional values?

I can’t put all the combinations in the poll so feel free to comment just yes/no answers

(If you’re going to reply please keep your responses respectful and polite.)

If your partner got a prostitute pregnant and then abandoned the child/ran away, what would be your response? Read…

So you were not in a relationship at the time or were about to be in a relationship, he gets the prostitute pregnant.
It’s her fault for not taking their morning after pill.
He tells her straight up that he’s not going to be involved and that she should terminate it.
She says that she won’t terminate and she hopes that he does stick around

So she deliberately gets pregnant, basically traps him

What would be your reaction?
he’s response is:
“She trapped me and it’s her fault for not taking the pill”
