This is a bit long I just need to know if im the asshole. My Step daughters bio mom was suppose to pick her up for a weekend visit this month as she hasn't seen her since the end of summer and gets 2 weekends a month. I guess she emailed my husband to his main email regarding the residential time and I guess my husband saw it and forgot to respond as he was at work and it got burried in his email (they have a specific email for her to send messages pertaining to their daughter to for this reason and she has refused to until recent). She has been telling my step daughter for a month now shes going to be taking her for the weekend and now a week before her visit we reached out to ask how she'd like to pick her up and also to confirm she has a carseat (as this visit is not in mom's home state and stepdaughter has stated mom has let her be in moving car with no seat) just for her to respond she isn't coming because we never confirmed and she couldn't get time off. No where in the parenting plan does it say my husband needs to confirm as it is on HER SCHEDULED weekend and us keeping her from her on her scheduled time would put us in contempt of court order. All it says is she must notify us 30 days in advance so we can make sure we are available for pickup and drop off. She is now putting it on us and my stepdaughter is heartbroken and mad. I've promised to take her to get her nails done and her grandma (my mom) is bringing over treats and sleeping over. Im trying to make it special so that she remember that instead of her mom disappointing her again, but im mad. i sent an email from the email that is meant for the information for their daughter and said for her not to tell her shes coming unless shes really sure as their daughter is now heartbroken. And that it is not our fault that she did not come. My husband said i shouldn't be mad as she lives in her own world and nothing I say will make a difference but im fuming and if I could tell her what I really think it wouldn't be pretty. Im tired of her breaking this poor little girls heart.
