Hi there, I’m considering Lunar Birth Centre but all tours are fully booked. My midwife recommended this for me and I was wondering if anyone would like to share their experiences, good or bad?
Many thanks,
Frida

Hey Frida,
See if your midwife can take you down after an appointment it’s definitely worth seeing in person, it put me at ease alot. I had very positive experience however, unfortunately due to complications I had to be taken out and monitored in the labour ward but the time I was in the lunar birth centre was honestly amazing. I felt very relaxed and do feel that as soon as I left my labour stalled because the vibe felt off and it just wasn’t the same. I wasn’t in there long enough to use the pool (I really wish I could’ve) but I did use the peanut ball and was given essential oils. The staff was so lovely to me. The room was just perfect, I had the lights dimmed which you can’t do in the labour ward I believe. They also had a double bed and not the typical hospital beds.
As i’m sure you’re aware you wouldn’t be able to get an epidural in the birth centre so that is something to think about.

There is a room in the labour ward that also has a pool so you could ask to see that too. That was the room I stayed in for the remainder of my time until I had to have an emergency C section.
I will say my care up until I was in recovery (post surgery) was very very good but afterwards it felt very different. It might be that the ward was very busy/ short staffed that day but you sort of go from being taken care of very well in a private room to sort of just being left in a room with 5 others and their babies + partners.
