On our elective c section paperwork it said you had to remove nail polish ect, didn’t end up with a section though so can’t confirm I’m afraid, baby had other ideas and came early 😂

I had two sections and gels on for both, they monitor you in about a dozen ways so they really have no issues. Only ancient o2 lab tech has issues with gel polish nowadays. They can put a monitor on your toe.

I work in the NHS and help with C sections, we always advise to any patient to not have any nail varnish on/gel/biab as can give a false reading of your oxygen levels. Yes they can place the SATS probe on your ear or toe but finger is always best as we can adjust the monitoring and keep an eye on your readings x

It doesn’t matter practically (am an anaesthetist).

I had my nails and toes done and they didn’t have any problems
Ahhh the replies are abit mixed!
I can absolutely have no gel on my toes even though it’s my biggest ick 😂😂😂
Ahhh maybe I’ll wait and see how they are art my pre op appointment 🤔
But obviously safety is most important!

I’ve had an emergency c section, they just put the blood pressure clip thing on my toe 😂

No nails, told specifically in my pre op.
I wasn’t giving them a reason to get my baby out of me that day!! They could literally say they’re not doing it with it being preplanned

I was advised to get it removed but didn’t and was fine.

I had biab on for mine and didn’t seem to be a problem x

I had pale pink gel nails on for my planned C-section and no one said a thing about removing beforehand or at my pre-op.
Seems like it really varies from trust to trust, I had my little one at Norfolk and Norwich x
