Coffee catch up

Hi everyone!

I’m mum to a 14 week old beautiful boy and am looking to meet other mums in the Chichester area! I’ve been to a few of the baby toddler groups but find they can be quite overwhelming and not necessarily aimed at babies so haven’t really been able to meet people with babies similar age to mine.

Would be great to know if there are any other mums in the same position as me who would be up for grabbing a coffee (and of course abit of cake or even a wine 😬) and just having a chat!

Time off work to care for sick toddler

Hi mums,

My wee one had to be picked up from nursery on Wednesday afternoon and we ended up in A&E with 40C fever (my wee one is 15 months old). I then told my employer and told them that I’ve to take off the next few days. In total I took two days and the weekend (weekends I’m off anyway). We had a chat about me taking off to take care for my child but it was very vague. My wee one is still having slight fever and cold symptoms and she’s supposed to go back to nursery tomorrow and me returning to work. Obviously, as long she’s having fever I am feeling very uncomfortable not caring for my child. I’m trying to find out what the general rule of law is in Scotland when it comes to taking off to take care of your children. I can’t really find anything, I’m not expecting to be paid but I’m worried to call sick for another day tomorrow (partner can take over from Tuesday). Anyone any guidance? Thanks 🙏🏻

Leaving baby over night

Baby girl is about to be 10 months, I have never left her for a night and have only left her during the day for a few hours. She is very attached to me, which is normal. But my partner and I have been struggling in our relationship lately so he wants to book a night away next week for us to spend some much needed time together but I know my baby won’t settle during the night (she doesn’t sleep through the night yet and will typically only resettle if I go into her). I feel really pressured to leave her which is making my anxiety worse (I have PPD and anxiety so I know my feelings are heightened). I know if we go I won’t relax or enjoy it because I’ll be worrying about our baby settling

Am I being over dramatic?

I'm a single mum with zero contact with bd (dont claim anything Dont want to) i work part time because of childcare. I get UC top up because if i worked full time id be paying half of it to childcare and doing both works out about the same or a tiny bit better than not working at all. But realistically its still not a lot to live off of in a month, Ive started a little 'side hustle' that was helping for extra money and to pay off debt but realistically i will have to pay tax on it and it will be more hassle then its worth and probably not overly beneficial. What am i supposed to do, what are we supposed to do? Just be broke and survive?
