Induction vs elective C section

Would people mind sharing their experiences? Have GDM so likely will be induced, but spending days being induced is anxiety provoking

I went for the induction and eventually had an emergency c-section. I’m glad I went through the induction part though. If things aren’t progressing you can opt for a c-section and you will get one within 24 hours.

I’ve had two c-sections and both were great experiences. My first one was in the US and my second one was in in the Uk. My experience in the UK was much more relaxed and comforting. I was up and walking immediately.

I had an elective c-section because I did not want to go through the experience of having an intense labour experience due to induction and then end up in theatre anyway in an emergency c-section during labour. I was trying to actively avoid birth trauma. The c-section experience was honestly so chilled and I would 100% do it again, quick and painless and the aftercare from the midwives was so amazing. I recovered quite well, just stay ahead on pain medication, don't wait until you're in pain to take them. And mobilise as soon as possible and as much as possible (go slow), this will help recovery, initially it hurts but the more you do it the easier it gets. All recoveries are different but I didn't find myself bed bound. I was up and about after about 3 days.

My induction was quick but everything around it wasn't great and was a pretty horrendous experience but that was being overstretched, understaffed and not being patient centric.
I've just had a planned C section with my second and night and day better.
If you have support to heal properly at home, which is quicker the better you do it, I'd do a section again in a heartbeat based on my two experiences. Recovery was so much easier and like myself again much quicker!

I had an induction at 2weeks overdue. I have to warn you it can be more intense contractions etc as its not natural, its forcing your body to do something its not prepared for yet. My oxotocin was turned up too high so my contractions were non stop and because all the other pain management stuff made me incredibly sick, i did eventually get an epidural. Wasnt originally what i wanted, but im glad i got it.
Induction/epidural often means assistance is required and you may need an episiotomy (cut to prevent tearing)

I may consider an elective csection this time as my baby got stuck and i had awful healing postpartum

Induced as my waters broke but I didn’t progress. 38 hr labour on no food and sleep, pushed for 2 hours I did have an epidural. I had a second degree tear and episiotomy.

Managed to avoid a c section as my baby was calm throughout. They did say 4 other women who gave birth that day that were induced ended in an unplanned c section (emergency c section is different to unplanned, most people mean unplanned rather than true emergency section)
I really didn’t want a c section and declined it when I was offered it, I then dilated to 10cm in the next 4 hours

I chose c section over induction when they said I should consider bringing baby out early. Lots of reasons why baby needed to come, but I didn't want to put my body or him through the stress of prolonged induction when we already had medical issues.

My c section was great, I enjoyed it!

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Homebirth?

I am thinking I want a homebirth (second baby) for a few different reasons but my husband is very against it, he is worried about things going wrong and we are a 30 minute drive from the hospital. Has anyone been in a similar position and what did you end up doing? Any advice? 🙏
