Hi guys,
Throughout my pregnancy I suffered with insomnia especially over the 3rd trimester. Since having my baby girl I can get little bursts of sleep ( no longer than 3 hours ) I’m going out my mind surviving on next to no sleep everyday. I’m not sure if it’s because my hormones are everywhere or I’m anxious about my new baby not being ok. Anyone else suffering?

I really struggled with insomnia throughout pregnancy and then postpartum. I’m 15 months pp and only just got a bit better and that’s only due to going on medication. I couldn’t take it anymore, it was going on for over a year, it’s absolutely horrendous. My baby is a good sleeper too and has slept through the night meaning 10/11 hours since 9 weeks old so I had the chance to sleep but I never could. Used to struggle for hours on end before I could finally fall asleep then wake up after a couple of hours then struggle for ages again then up for the day so was getting 4/5 hours of broken sleep a night for a year. In the end I gave in and went on antidepressants as I’ve put my symptoms down to hormones etc but turns out I had really bad anxiety which I’ve always had but it became so much worse in pregnancy and now I feel so much better and can sleep better too! Your baby is only a week old right? So surely your sleep is affected because she’s still waking up every few hours? I’d give it

Some time and see how you get on and if it’s not improving then speak to your GP and they can assist you with the best solution for you!! Hope it gets better soon, it is the worst thing ever being sleep deprived 🥲

Hey Lovie! I went through this same thing with my 1st! You’re not alone! It got better after a couple of months maybe around the 6 or 7 month mark since she mostly bottle feed after 3 maybe 4 months of trial and error of breastfeeding. I’m currently in my second trimester (20 weeks today) with my 2nd and I’m struggling to sleep past 2am-3am even though 6 out of 7 nights my one year sleeps all through the night 😅🙃

You’re not alone. I had it too . My mental health was in the trenches lol after my first
