I’m 37 weeks and have been given the go ahead to start hand expressing colostrum… I thought it was going to be easy as I have been leaking a bit for a couple of months but when I’ve tried nothing has come out! Any tips?

I persisted, and massaged the whole breast for a good 5 minutes and expressed until something came out. The more I did day by day the more it became easier

Persistence is key. With my first it took me massaging my breasts every night for a week before I got my first drop out. Keep trying and don’t use a pump to express. There are some handy tips on the NHS website. Also, if you still don’t manage to express colostrum then don’t worry it has no indication on breastfeeding. Some women don’t express colostrum but still manage to breastfeed successfully.

I have the same problem! Massage for 10min but no luck !

Try using a breast-pump. I have used mama cozy m5 and I was able to get colostrum

try after a shower, this helped me! don’t pinch the nipple, move your hand further back and sort of press the but behind your areola with your hand in like a C shape x

The first day I didnt get hardly any but then got more and more each day, keep practicing and dont get disheartened, and play around with technique xx

I got a couple drops the first day I tried and nothing since😫 apparently it’s ‘normal’ but annoying when you get something then don’t🤦🏼♀️ I’m almost 37 weeks x

I tried today and was able to get like 0.2 ml 😐🙄 and for me it’s always a bit painful the whole squeezing thing i mean why does it get sore in 5 minutes ugh
