My little one has started waking up around 5am each morning. What’s everyone’s advice on how to encourage him to sleep later?
We’ve tried leaving him and just checking in every few minutes but he just cries and cries, this tends to work through the night but not past 4am, he just wants to get up. We’ve tried just getting up for the day but it makes for a loooong day. We’ve tried getting him out his cot and cuddling but he just screams unless the light is on and he knows he’s getting up properly. Basically once he’s awake he will not go back to sleep.
For reference he tends to have 2x 1.5hr naps through the day and always needs woken from these, we aim for his last nap to end at 3.30pm at the latest. Then bedtime is 7.30/7.45pm. Is this too much sleep? Too little? Considering he’s only getting 9hrs through the night sometimes.

Totally my opinion - but if he is only getting 9 hour of night sleep plus 3 hours of naps that’s only 12 hours … collectively not enough sleep - sounds like he might be over tired, most things I’ve read say our littles need 13-15 hours (ever kid is different and some days it may be 12 hours and others is maybe 14 hours etc )
How long are your wake windows 3-4.5 hours?
Also have you tried to give a 5am feed will baby go back down to sleep… or do you think your baby is really cold and waking up?
If your baby slept 11 hours at night going down at 7:30pm they would be waking up at 6;30 am what time do you want baby to wake up?

I can’t lie if my boy wakes up at 5 I bring him into our bed quickly and he will sleep then till 6:30/7 🤷🏼♀️

How long is his first wake window? If it can be stretched a bit, I’d try for one long nap rather than 2 and see if that helps.
